funny, when i originally read this thread's title i thought LP meant liz phair and you were mocking all of the critics by pointing out that exile in guyville in no way resembles the latest ILM thread about Liz Phair. That being said, madonna?

Talk Talk ridiculously dwarf all competition (though I haven't heard the Underworld one).

Evan (Evan), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

the underworld one is pretty good. bad guitar pop rock "see you later, see you later underneath the radar"

to stadium techno (though the latest album does actually have a smidge of live guitar).

gallantseagull, Tuesday, 1 July 2003 21:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Talk Talk is a good call, but I urge you to contrast the early industrial terror charge produced by The Meatls on their debut to the graceful electronic pastoralism of their last.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 22:29 (twenty-two years ago)

(Every album Underworld has put out has had a smidge of live guitar, gallantseagull.)

Talk Talk's pretty good, but actually Tori Amos and Ministry are far more extreme. Ministry started off as effete electro pop (like early Talk Talk!) while of course Tori Amos was in glam heavy metal band Y Kant Tori Reid.

Oh, and I'd just like to add Bill Nelson. The first Bebop Deluxe record is a weird guitar hero/ heart throb/art rock monstrosity (sample lyric: Sister Seagull/ Oh, you're flying me too high), and only later did he metamorphose into a pastorally romantic electro pop person.
