I'm really really strongly considering going this year. Have been since I became aware of it last year (and discovering how good every years line-ups have been

also considering Melt (Germany), Synch (Greece.. I've never been to Greece and the line up is incredibly thoroughly electronical). Sonar ... maybe.

fandango (fandango), Thursday, 21 April 2005 13:51 (twenty years ago)

one month passes...
I want to go sooooo bad! But why the hell is airfare from NYC to Valencia/Barcelona over $900?! That's tragic.

Candicissima (candicissima), Saturday, 4 June 2005 17:07 (twenty years ago)

I have been thinking about it for a while, but the mister is a bit worried about hanging round a campsite in a warm country and the general mingingness that will ensue.

The Cure have been added to that lineup now.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 4 June 2005 19:15 (twenty years ago)

candicissima, you can get from London to BCN for mucho cheap with easyjet.com or with ryanair.com if that makes it any cheaper.

And Ailsa, it is soooooo worth it. On-site facilities are sensationally good with nice clean loos and (cold) showers. Despite it being hot, there's a beach upon which you can piss about all day.

one month passes...
Is anyone else going? Does anyone want to engage in a little boosterism, puffery and all round hype.

This is going to be good.

By the beach. In Spain. Loads of excellent music (beyond the somewhat stodgy headliners and main stage acts).

Woo hoo!

Jamie T Smith (Jamie T Smith), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 11:55 (twenty years ago)

I am going!
This is a bit crazy because I will be in Fuji rock the week-end before.
And I am going back to south of france for family vist. And I could not resist Benicassim this year.
The line-up is just incredible this year. I think I can arrive on time for Underworld on Thursday night
I am really looking forward (among others) to !!!, Roisin Murphy, LCD Soundsystem, The Cure and Basement Jaxx.

Arnault (arc73hk), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 12:05 (twenty years ago)

That is entirely crazy. (Fuji Rock, not wanting to see those acts)

Yeah, I'm quite hyped about the whole dfa night. It'll be good to check out ilm faves like DJ Koze as well.

And it's by the beach. In Spain.

Jamie T Smith (Jamie T Smith), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 12:09 (twenty years ago)

I'll be nearby (northwest of Bareclona) for hols.

have the fun..

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 12:12 (twenty years ago)

Wish I'd got my shit together for this :-(

fandango (fandango), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 20:59 (twenty years ago)

yes. 7 days of festival within 10 days and a 16+ hours flight in between. I will die!
This is the last year I do this. I will have to chose.
Fuji rock has the best location and atmosphere, but the line-up at benicassim is so amazing.
I will be there at the DFA night for sure. LCD Soundsystem has been my favourite gig of the year so far!

Arnault (arc73hk), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 23:24 (twenty years ago)

FAP anyone? Any ILXors camping at Bonet will find me milling about. I'm the large-ish Scottish fellow with the red face. At least, it will be after a day in the sunshine.

scotstvo (scotstvo), Sunday, 31 July 2005 15:11 (twenty years ago)

i'll be there but (sadly) just for the thursday. there seems to be a very large number of scots heading over to it.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Sunday, 31 July 2005 15:14 (twenty years ago)

Pasty, as we all are, it seems only logical we need to get scorched for 10 days a year.

scotstvo (scotstvo), Sunday, 31 July 2005 15:18 (twenty years ago)

I still want to go. Is getting tickets feasible at such short notice? I appear to have two weeks off work and no holiday yet booked.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 31 July 2005 15:43 (twenty years ago)

there are still tickets left - http://fiberfib.com/www/bot.php?sec=1&bot=2&sub=1&lan=en

stirmonster (stirmonster), Sunday, 31 July 2005 15:49 (twenty years ago)

Ailsa, you can buy tickets there too, I'm pretty sure. E-mail me at the address on the fitba thread (this evening) and we can swap numbers if you're going to go.

scotstvo (scotstvo), Sunday, 31 July 2005 15:53 (twenty years ago)

Flights are a bit prohibitive, but I'm not ruling it out. Glasgow FAP in Spain!

I will have to get Neil drunk and point out we need a holiday. Maybe it's a bit short notice. Scotstvo, I'll email you my number anyway, mail me back and then I can get in touch if we turn up.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 31 July 2005 16:02 (twenty years ago)

eleven months pass...
http://fiberfib.com/fotos/g2data/albums/fiberfib_com/cartel/fib06_cartel.gif

Wonder why they've dropped the single label per day/night line up thing this year? Ordinary Boys and Art Brut in the club tent... grraaah. Not a good omen for the future of this fest but sure it'll please some visiting Brits :P

Not complaining about the rest of it though. FAS(Sangria) anyone?

fandango (fandango), Saturday, 1 July 2006 13:58 (nineteen years ago)

why so few spanish bands? average age of the headliners is close to 50 no? exciting!

keyth (keyth), Saturday, 1 July 2006 21:57 (nineteen years ago)

nine months pass...
Anyone else going this year?

Anyone got any tips on travel, accommodation, what to do in Valencia etc?

Tips greatly appreciated.

Daniel Giraffe, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 10:42 (eighteen years ago)

early line up is a little 'meh'

http://img451.imageshack.us/img451/3782/fib07cartel070328ento0.jpg

certianly the least inspiring of all the years I've been supposed to be going (even got a ticket last year but had to sell it... was skint :-/ )

fandango, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 10:52 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, I booked long before the line-up was announced. Still, (correct me if I'm wrong but) it looks as though there's more to do there than just watch bands.

Daniel Giraffe, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 11:23 (eighteen years ago)

you're not wrong :)
