My favorite walking around tune is "Blue Line Swinger" by Yo La Tengo. It always feels like's it's the end of a movie and if I turn around just right, I'll catch a glimpse of some closing credits rolling up behind me.

Sam and Dave are perfect for walking around - if you need to get somewhere fast - step off on the 1 and pound the pavement

if you ever come across the cassette of the album - stay well clear. bloody zuccarelli holophonic sound recording. very clever but on a walkman, scary. kept taking off the headphones to double check

walking around venice listening to amnesiac got me back into radiohead

radiohead was far better for train rides, me thinks, very blurry and scenic...

Don Cherry "I Walk" (off Disco Not Disco)

more for strutting, but...

The Meters catalog
The LaFayette Afro Rock Band

Depends where yer walkin', what it's like out, what season it is, etc.

I think the Cocteau Twins make for excellent walkin' music.

Walking on a rainy autumn day with an umbrella = The Cure's Disintegration = unfuckwithable.

Walking home from a girl-you-really-like's house at 3 am on a beautiful clear see-all-the-stars-in-the-sky night after the two of you have just kissed for the first time = Air's Moon Safari no diggitty.

Walking to class at 8 am on a hot summer day through densely populated campus sidewalks = Fela Kuti's He Miss Road oh yeah.
