"an uplifting experience."

"it's about dealing with the frustration of urban life as it is now and the
values that are forced upon us. it's about struggling with that, the
survivalist mentality...how to just get by and get on."

"it's about dealing with the frustrations of life, and eventually finding the
values that will help you become more centered and focused, and be able to
respond to the world around you in a much more positive manner. in a way, that
is the journey to be made on this album. a lot of the words deal with the
darker nature of life or survivalist existence."

"working on this project was a cathartic experience transforming all of this
negative energy into something far more creative and positive."

"I was thinking of getting involved in more rock-oriented music, because the
subject matter I wanted to deal with was of a more frustrated nature."

"I wanted to get involved in something that was more intense musically, more
aggressive and confrontational."

"I certainly felt that I wanted to make an album that was far more dynamic than
the kind of work that I had been involved in."

"the record came out rather more loud than if I had been working by myself,
which is rather exciting."

"I find it a more up front album than anything I've ever been involved in.
It's more confrontational in its approach. it's not so introspective."

"I felt very comfortable with this collaboration because there is an equal
footing. We both carry the weight of the project. one isn't leading the
other."

"I think that what we ended up with was a music that did have the finer
details, but at the same time, had these performances that were very inspired."

"it was very exciting."

- a decade has passed and yet it still remains "The First Day"

A decade has passed and yet it still remains the last worthwhile disc that either has released.

I thought I recognised that line. Ten years ago? I liked some of it. I was especially intrigued with the whole "grunge Dave" appearance, and guess that it went along well with the heavier sounds on that album. Going to the music shop and seeing the cover with both Sylvian and Fripp obviously laughing and enjoying themselves was a shocking surprise indeed. It's a shame that their gleeful behavior did not last for long. Shame that they didn't follow their own advice of "live in lightness". Both artists must have felt it necessary to return to darkness, each with spotty results.
