Fellow Musos: Can You Recommend Rilly Great Small Monitors?

So, it looks like I may need to get some new reference monitors for home, and quick. My trusty old boombox speakers that I've been using all these years and know like the back of my hand are beginning to betray me. I can spend something like $6-700 tops at the moment. What do the musicians recommend? There're way too many options out there but can't seem to find a pair that EVERYONE digs.

Oh yeah, and they need to be relatively small to medium sized.

Millar - how's the bass response on the Monitor One's? Just curious because I've heard they're a bit mid-rangey and don't really translate bass well, so people often overcompensate in the bass/low end area when mixing on them. Just curious. Bass is important in most of my stuff so I'll need to hear it while working.

A teeny bit over your budget are the Mackie HR624s, but they are tremendous. You might get a used pair for $700...

I'm happy with my set of Yamaha MSP5s.

three months pass...
Well, just thought I'd revive this thread as it's November (!) and I still haven't gotten those danged monitors. But I need to before holiday shopping poverty happens so.... any new recommendations? I did listen to the 624s, and liked them (we have 824's in one of the studios where I work. Super Low End - though a bit harsh?), but I need to go cheaper for now.
