The Cure's "Never Enough"/The Dance's "Do Dada" from New York Noise. A Connection?

So I'm spinning the new New York Noise compilation (and quite enjoying it) and am struck by the similarity (tempo notwithstanding) between the refrain of "Do Dada" by the Dance and "Never Enough" by the Cure, specifically "Whatever you do it's never enough,"....even the melody is a bit similar. Seriously, Cure-heads, check it out. Am I simply projecting? I realize it's not that original a sentiment ("whatever you do, it's never enough") but it seems strikingly similar to me. Might ol' Robert Smith have been a fan?
