I know someone who is obsessed with a song called "Tant Pis, Tant Mieux" ("So Much the Worse, So Much the Better"). It's probably from the 30s or 40s. She has friends in a Manouche jazz group and they can play it (they learned it from real-deal gypsies) so I've heard it. Could be described as a minor-key ballad with several sections to it, very sinuous and insistent. It is indeed a wonderful song.

Anyway she's says it's out of print, or never was in same.

Yeah I found those on Google, too. Moreno Bolero's song has a different title, so I think it's out. The Alice Dona is tantalizing but brings me no closer to THE WORDS

(the group i saw has a demo where they play this song; however they refuse to let anyone hear "Tant Pis Tant Mieux" until they get a locked-down record deal; it's like their ace-in-the-hole, the thing no-one else knows how to do)

(the words have something to do with love, it's like "too bad about our relationship; so much the better for me!")

I did a search for the song alongside Django Reinhardt, thinking he may have recorded it, and found mention of a song called "Tant Pis Ou Tant Mieux," written by Paul "Tchan Tchou" Vidal (Moreno's mentor) and F. Bonifay. I'm pretty sure it dates back to the 40s.
