Oh, the new Matmos thing sounds kind of cool.

I don't know if I'm supposed to start a thread about something like this but I guess it's okay and you guys all listen to indie rock and probably already know about it but I think the new Matmos CD will be cool if it all sounds like this.

I don't even know what kind of replies you could make. There are worse threads, though, probably. Everyone is going to start arguing about Creed and Ally kissing all of those guys and getting pictures taken of it and talking about indie rock and you'll come here and be all like, Ha! Bridgemen did the same thing in '99! Ha! Ex1 did the same thing in '99! Ha! Brifco did the same thing in '99! Ha! Red Setter did the same thing in '99! And a hundred times better!

No, it sounds cool.

dlk (d k), Sunday, 13 July 2003 21:47 (twenty-two years ago)

We all listen to indie rock?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 13 July 2003 21:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Please don't dispute that.

Sorry.

d k (d k), Sunday, 13 July 2003 21:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Let me rephrase that -- we all currently actively listen to indie rock and follow its every move?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 13 July 2003 21:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes!

You all live in New York City and listen to indie rock and go food shopping in ethnic neighborhoods.

d k (d k), Sunday, 13 July 2003 21:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Momus 2001 to thread.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 13 July 2003 21:57 (twenty-two years ago)

i knew about it. didn't think it was worth a whole thread about it though

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 13 July 2003 21:58 (twenty-two years ago)

James Blount or jess will come now and say a joke like: 'Momus 1997 was the latest version produced.' Because they make jokes about him being stuck in the past.

d k (d k), Sunday, 13 July 2003 21:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Then Momus will come and be like, 'Oh, I'm crazy!'

d k (d k), Sunday, 13 July 2003 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

'I'm a crazy guy from Berlin. I always wear an eyepatch.'

d k (d k), Sunday, 13 July 2003 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Go back to arguing about Creed and I'll enjoy my Matmos MP3 by myself.

d k (d k), Sunday, 13 July 2003 22:00 (twenty-two years ago)

You need to go out and buy the entire Earth, Wind & Fire catalog right fucking now, indie boy.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Sunday, 13 July 2003 22:01 (twenty-two years ago)

now i know what snoop feels like when he sees a lil bow wow video!!!

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 13 July 2003 22:08 (twenty-two years ago)

dk i have a seen it all attitude about your seen it all attitude regarding jess and blounts seen it all attitudes

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 13 July 2003 22:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry. I like them. But if they put more work into discussing things they actually liked rather than posting snappy one-liners, I wouldn't have to wade through so much discussion of stupid New York guitar bands. But they don't do that.

I just kind of wanted to make a joke.

d k (d k), Sunday, 13 July 2003 22:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I like when Blount comes in with a one-liners with something and then jess backs him up with something. And then you come in and do some stuff. And then Sterling starts talking about the Frankfurt School and no one knows what to say and then nothing happens because they feel guilty about listening to indie rock and feeling contempt for the working class. That's the usual pattern.

d k (d k), Sunday, 13 July 2003 22:16 (twenty-two years ago)

ilm: 'listening to indie rock and feeling contempt for the working class'

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 13 July 2003 22:22 (twenty-two years ago)

dk how old are you? and would you like to write for spizzazzz?

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 13 July 2003 22:23 (twenty-two years ago)

(ilm: 'listening to indie rock and feeling contempt for the working class' - yo, hermeneutics!)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Sunday, 13 July 2003 22:27 (twenty-two years ago)

what are hermeneutics?

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 13 July 2003 22:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm nineteen years old. I'd like to write for spizzazz. I read it. But I'm not sure if I'd be good at it.

d k (d k), Sunday, 13 July 2003 22:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Her`me*neu"tics\, n. [Gr. ? (sc. ?).] The science of interpretation and explanation; exegesis; esp., that branch of theology which defines the laws whereby the meaning of the Scriptures is to be ascertained. --Schaff-Herzog Encyc.

d k (d k), Sunday, 13 July 2003 22:32 (twenty-two years ago)

frenchbloke (frenchbloke), Monday, 14 July 2003 08:45 (twenty-two years ago)

what the living daylights is this thread all about?

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 14 July 2003 11:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh FFS everyone who makes fun of N's eyepatch deserves to have an eyedropper full of hungry amoebas bounced onto the surface of each cornea, which will then chow down on said cornea, rendering their eyes useless even after long courses of extremely caustic medicine with nasty side effects. Would you find it so funny or pretentious then?

MelCaramel to thread! She met Matmos blokeys in the spring at the Bjork shows and it was all smiles, apparently.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 14 July 2003 11:41 (twenty-two years ago)

i like that mp3

robin (robin), Monday, 14 July 2003 12:41 (twenty-two years ago)

the new matmos record is indeed quite good. i didn't like "a chance to cut..." myself, but i know i'd probably be outvoted on that on this list.

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 04:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know. I've heard Kid 606 and Cex. They were sort of okay but boring. That's all I think about the whole thing.
