I'm serious. It's not that easy, and testament to the extraordinary wordpower and descriptive ability of all you posters out there. It makes sense that words like 'seminal' have been used over 100 times, but how about 'quixotic' (7 times), 'parsimonious' (4 times), 'balletic' (just the once: Ned Raggett's 'balletic orgy of violence'!!!), and chickenshit (an amazing 20 times - possibly not an adjective in the strictest sense).

I almost gave up after finding these: engorged (5), parsimonious (3), phlegmatic & obstreperous (2 ea.), and turdlike (1) (never mind that there were 22 {!!!!!!} for autistic) - but I persevered, finding no matches for amoeboid or frowsy. I have yet to check for vomitous, blood-smeared, or clot-like.

It's fun to look up a word and see who's used it. Like, "hellacious" has been used 9 times, but 3 of those have been by Ian Johnson (once to describe the Birthday Party, twice to describe Lightning Bolt). With enough time, you could figure out an anonymous poster's identity through their vocabulary and syntax tics.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 14 July 2003 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

You mean "lantern-jawed" wasn't in the Jay Leno: Classic or Dud thread?
