The Jesus Lizard is a good suggestion. I'd say check the records "Goat" and "Liar" as they are their best records. Also the the live one "Show" or the compilation "Bang" are also pretty good overviews.

You might also like Shellac or Mule. The vocals are not quite as unhinged, but they both have the big clubbing drums and odd dynamics like "Milk It".

Early Butthole Surfers, some of The Cows and Melvins songs also have similar kind of unhinged sound.

Had the identical records been issued on lathe cuts (limited editions of 100), and Nirvana had had to 'keep their day jobs' instead of having the audacity to succeed, these 'Cobain is dead, get over it' folks would likely be praising them to the heavens. Ironic. They were great AND they sold a lot of records. It happens. Get over it.

Shellac... is the band Nirvana probably wished they could be. So, are the drums on "Milk It" Albini drums or did Geffen re-record the entire album?
