There's something beautiful about the cover. But that's to be expected. Have I started a revival?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 10:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I love the cover.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 10:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I want to be a bird with a mandolin for a beak.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 10:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I catalogued a video the other day and it's catalogue number on the spine was the same as my PIN for my debit card.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 10:09 (twenty-two years ago)

This is now the thread where Nick Southall gibbers to himself happily.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 10:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Now you know how I feel 90% of the time.

kate (kate), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 10:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got Goretex trainers on, and linen trousers what make me look like I am wearing pyjamas. And a Beta band t-shirt with a blim-burn in it.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 10:13 (twenty-two years ago)

You want to be a mandolin-beaked bird too?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 10:13 (twenty-two years ago)

No, about the gibbering to yourself enthusing about something that no one else cares about. See the Medicine thread, etc.

kate (kate), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Do they release a new Talk Talk comp (leaving off most of their best stuff each time to befuddle the public) every week? Behold the power of selling your music to tv advertisers.

hamish (hamish), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah, but I care. I bought it. Ought to arrive tomorrow.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 10:17 (twenty-two years ago)

perhaps this is the best comp yet. still no substitute for Spirit of Eden tho.

hamish (hamish), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 10:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Aye. Best cover too.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 10:19 (twenty-two years ago)

No, about the gibbering to yourself enthusing about something that no one else cares about. See the Medicine thread, etc.

i do it all the time... there's nothing wrong with it. but if we all do it on this thread then it may look like we're having a conversation...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 10:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, smart man, Dave.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 10:21 (twenty-two years ago)

to the outside world we will appear a little less pitiful...
mandolin-beaked birds = a good thing

A little late for introductions by this point, no? Are Talk Talk racing the Stranglers in the great, needless compilations sweepstakes?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)

And that cover is indefensibly ridiculous, btw!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Indefensibly ridiculous, but grebt and beautiful. Mandolin-beaked birds to thread, obv.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 13:18 (twenty-two years ago)

That cover art was also the cover art for an old issue of OMNI magazine, a copy of which I think I have somewhere in my apartment. That 80s style sci-fi/new age art ruled.

fletrejet, Tuesday, 15 July 2003 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe the comp was an excuse to reissue the cover.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I catalogued a video the other day and it's catalogue number on the spine was the same as my PIN for my debit card.

Which video?

This was in ref. to the Medicine album, which did indeed arrive tomorrow (tomorrow being today).

That cover art has to be by the chap who did TT's other covers, right?
