how are the fireman albums also?

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 08:13 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, them too. they got better reviews on AMG than clapton's techno stuff.

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 08:15 (twenty-two years ago)

and then there was that "techno album" of Gary Moore's also...
(haven't heard any of the above named)

'In Thru the Out Door' = Page's techno album?

dave q, Tuesday, 22 July 2003 08:39 (twenty-two years ago)

more like john paul jones's techno album, mr. q.

Owning both Fireman albums means I can tell you that the first is boring as hell - nine mixes of the same track with such infinitisimal changes between tracks that it makes you fall asleep - and the second is actually rather good, though the bits used as intro music to Macca's recent world tour weren't the best bits. At least the second sounds like some thought went into it and doesn't all sound the same.

And there was Wishbone Ash's drum'n'bass direction a few years ago... dark days...

kyle (akmonday), Sunday, 9 October 2005 20:01 (twenty years ago)

Neil Young also had a techno album - Lucky 13 - I haven't heard it in a while, but I remember it noing being too bad.

viborgu, Sunday, 9 October 2005 22:37 (twenty years ago)

oh I've heard this album, it's just what you'd expect.

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 9 October 2005 22:55 (twenty years ago)

i'd forgotten all about this thread! so what's the verdict -- is it crap?!?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Sunday, 9 October 2005 23:04 (twenty years ago)

as i'm interested in techno, can you please tell me
how 'techno' is it on a 10-point scale?

nique (nique), Monday, 10 October 2005 00:17 (twenty years ago)

oh, man. my brother bought this off ebay last year. i would listen to it now, but he sold it. it sounds like the menu music in the original ridge racer.

Christopher Costello (CGC), Monday, 10 October 2005 00:22 (twenty years ago)

i take that no one wants to remember denny vertigo's foray into trip hop circa 1996.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 10 October 2005 00:27 (twenty years ago)

why not, it was his best work surely? also id rather call it deep house than trip hop

one eye white, one eye black (FE7), Monday, 10 October 2005 00:50 (twenty years ago)

denny vertigo - you played the house

Neil Young's "Computer Age (Live In Berlin)" is pretty awesome.
