I take back everything bad I ever said about Bardo Pond

If you missed it, I'm referring to my comments about how I stopped paying attention to them after Amantia. Well, after a few recent chance meetings with some rabid fans (on this board and elsewhere) I decided to download the first two volumes of their self-released CD-Rs and, frankly, am really regretting not keeping up with them. Is anything post-Lapsed this outstanding?? Or should I just keep to the self-released stuff?

All the self-titled records are amazing. Their new record is pretty hot, too, upon first listen.

Roger is a wise, wise man. I'd say pursue the official albums as well but the self-released material is less song-oriented and more endless wonderful jams, so if you prefer that, you know where to keep listening.

The new record is absolutely gorgeous. The flute on "Every Man" just kills me, in fact the first three tracks all really do it for me. The layout is total ass tho!

But what's with the self-released CD-Rs being like $15 or something on their site? I never took the plunge due to that but it looks like I might have to look into em now.

Wise indeed.... I really like everything Bardo Pond has done, though Amanita still remains my favorite. But I don;t know... Set & Setting is great too....

Their self-released CD-Rs still have top notch production and recording on them. I'm presuming that less product = higher expense per CD to actually record them, thus higher prices.

I've had mp3s of the self-released material, never really took. _Dilate_ is wonderful for "Two Planes" which moves away from the murky stuff with melancholic violins, and also "Lb" on it is nuts heavy.
