I'm new to this whole DJ mix thing and you all should tell me about it. Also, does anyone have a listing of the contents of all the Soulwax mixes?

It's funny that while they are from Belgium, it seems easier to get the bootlegs in the USA. I haven't seen any of the compilations in a store over here (Belgium), let alone in a mainstream chain as Virgin.
There are a couple of places on the net that have tracklists of the cd's / mixes.

i'd like to agree with frenchbloke's sentimentthat it wears thin quickly. *doesn't* it though ?'hang the dj' was broadcast on radio 1, xmas day 2001since then my feeling about it has gone from 'hey isn't *this* great'to 'christ isn't isn't this tedious'.

It pretty much was... I watched the highlights all weekend without ever wanting to be there. Apart from the Moloko and Roots sets.
the 2ManyDJs things are really good to play at parties, which is definitely a compliment. And yeah you get sick of them after a while... but I get sick of pretty much everything after a while, lose the CD for six months then experience the joy of rediscovery.

Yes I am a snob about it, but ok imagine a pre-Christmas 2manydjs gig in Dublin, I just can't even envisage the amount of drunken tossers that'd be there. And then the over-praise from ignorami afterwards, you'd swear 2manydjs were the first people to ever play "Rocker", "La Rock", "Prototype" etc.
THE FIRST PEOPLE TO PLAY THOSE TUNES WERE YOU AND I GOD DAMN IT.

Soulwax playing at nation in liverpool tried to help the crowd out and let them come closer to the stage only to be assulted and the drummer pushed into his drumkit 18 seconds into the video when the bouncers and security came onstage, completely uncalled for. Also, I kinda want the track list online so I can search for some of the artists new to me on it. Coming to this with a music knowledge only spanning the Indie cannon, these seems like a great way to immerse myself in lots of fun music that I wouldn't hear otherwise.

Holy shit, guys, has anyone else snagged this Radio Soulwax app or seen the website? 24 hour-long mixes with accompanying visuals, etc. So stellar.
― brie on crüt (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 9 July 2011 16:51 (fourteen years ago)
just discovering 'introversy'.
just really fantastic work. whenever they bring in something obscure they really justify it with the sonic connection, but it's seamless in a way that goes well beyond the level of trivia. although I have to admit, the video for this is gratifying to precisely the archelogist in me: when you see the album covers, you really learn what all these samples that you're already intimately familiar with
really need to find an mp3 of this.

― Milton Parker, Friday, 19 August 2011 20:06 (fourteen years ago)
If you have an iPhone (don't know about other smartphone apps) you can download the Radio Soulwax app for free and stream or even download the mixes (Introversy is among them).
― willem, Friday, 19 August 2011 20:38 (fourteen years ago)
Milton, try the free YouTube Downloader (converts vids to mp3s) from cnet.com. Just watch out for the toolbar it wants to install (not required). Or the Switch Sound Coverter (also free, also from cnet) might do it.

― dow, Friday, 19 August 2011 20:43 (fourteen years ago)
^or do that. the app with the animated covers is essential for the archeologist in you though ;-)
― willem, Friday, 19 August 2011 20:44 (fourteen years ago)
will definitely be getting the app. hoping to score a less lossy mp3 of just the audio as well, one I can port to other machines that aren't an iphone or an ipad
I'm actually impressed enough that content like this can appear in the app store! But since it's a stream it falls under the auspices of being 'radio' and not original content that violates other copyrights. Which is good, because it gets distributed. But is also silly, because anyone with half a mind will see this and realize that it damn well is original content.
Which is why I want that mp3.
― Milton Parker, Friday, 19 August 2011 20:54 (fourteen years ago)
Milton, I'm on this for you, making a good rip of that youtube film and creating an mp3. But it's going slower than I had hoped, so I won't be able to put it up tonight, it will be tomorrow. Just so you know :)
