Dear AMG peoples: what has happened to the AMG biographies; please explain why they have inexplicably turned into webpagey- things overnight in really long columns since

...they're just so unreadable now. WHY did this happen ?

Because we hate you. (Real answer: because most up-to-date web browsers can handle it, from what I gather -- I was just as surprised as you when I noticed it, and there's a thread already on this in the archives.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

haha ok

Vic (Vic), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 13:03 (twenty-two years ago)

but we still hate you, don't get us wrong.

Vic (Vic), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 13:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Buy a Mac, download iCab as your browser and you will have no worries. Ever.

JoB (JoB), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

You should now have the option to either use the scrollbar or click 'expand' when reading bios.

Andy K (Andy K), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

iCab or Safari, I find (Job, does iCab notably improve on Safari in general?).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

It is much more customizable, I find.

JoB (JoB), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:54 (twenty-two years ago)

It's crap now.

Al Andalous, Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Is there a browser out there that makes Mac obsessives look less smug? :-)

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

NCSA Mosiac.

Yup, it's called Serene Confidence.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 15:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd just like to note that AMG's old system of only giving you half the bio to start made no sense, and unless you're using a computer from like 1992, it works fine.

David Allen, Wednesday, 23 July 2003 15:40 (twenty-two years ago)

So wait: the scrunched up version I get at home on my Mac is just the way it is? Or can I do something about it? Because the way it looks on my PC is totally different. I have OS 9.2 on the Mac, but my browser isn't, like, ancient or anything...

As for us being smug: Pah!

So if you wanted to look at the albums listing for the Beatles, you wouldn't mind scrolling the page all the way down -- past a couple thousand words of text -- to get to it?

Andy K (Andy K), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Agreed.

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

That expand bio feature is a lifesaver. Thanks AMG.

David A. (Davant), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 19:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Now if they could only expand it to their movie site...
