Clearly the best song is Don't You Want Me.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

"Burning Love"

"I Will Survive" sounds about right. But WTF is the "Free Software Song"?

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Wednesday, 23 July 2003 17:54 (twenty-two years ago)

the best songs for *me* are "here comes the rain again" and "i touch myself."

You don't want to know, Curtis. Trust me.
(The original poll came off of Slashdot, which is a techie/linux zealot version of ILM. Except with more Geir's and no Spoonered's.)

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 18:13 (twenty-two years ago)

"Need You Tonight"! Because you don't have to really sing; you can just sort of breathily mumble it and girls will think it's way hot.

Tom Breihan (Tom Breihan), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

If that came from Slashdot, why isn't "CowboyNeal" one of the choices?

J (Jay), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the editors have been trying to slowly phase out the "CowboyNeal Option". To little success. (The first 200 posts end up being: "Hey...where's the 'CowboyNeal Option'?")

Cracklin' Rosie by Neil Diamond, and pretty much all of Neil Diamond's good songs

King Kobra (King Kobra), Thursday, 24 July 2003 18:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I never do the same song twice myself. Too many awesome ones out there.

Last night I did:

R. Kelly "The World's Greatest"
Milli Vanilli "Girl You Know It's True" (this was easily the best)
Limp Bizkit "My Way"

I was gonna do Enrique Iglesias's "Hero" but their copy wasn't working. They always do "Sweet Caroline" at my fave haunt but in the chorus they do this icky thing where they say SWEET CAROLINE (audience: FUCK! THAT! SLUT!) GOOD TIMES NEVER FELT SO GOOD (audience: SO GOOD! SOO GOOD! SO GOOD!). I hate that shit.

I have most successfully done "Mack the Knife" (changing lyrics to mention people in the crowd) and duet work on "To All the Girls I've Loved Before" (I got to be Julio I.), while my wife always busts up "I've Never Been to Me." Still waiting to unleash the fucking fury that is my rendition of "You Shook Me All Night Long". I still prefer air-band rock though: you got "Radar Love," I'm unbeatable.

"Love is a Battlefield" didn't make the list? That's surprising.

in my neck of the woods, meat loaf's monumental "paradise by the dashboard light" rules...they even have someone to sing the girl part. amazing!

Ally is correct.
