Finish this sentence: John Lydon's voice makes me want to...

I want to write a fictional piece about a character who's possessed by the voice of John Lydon. PiL's "The Flowers of Romance"-era, to be more specific. Not the Sex Pistols. So I ask, if you heard Lydon in your head constantly, what would it make you do? Where would you go? I appreciate any input!

Johnny Badlees (crispssssss), Thursday, 24 July 2003 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

>(he should have his own chat show too - can you imagine it?!)

Indeed I can. It should be co-hosted by Madonna. He can be all Regis-y, pissed off about this and that and barking at the stage manager, and she'll be Kelly, burbling on about her spirituality and her kids' fingerpaintings and how brilliant her husband's next movie's going to be, even though she's not allowed to be in it.

Phil Freeman (Phil Freeman), Thursday, 24 July 2003 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and in answer to the thread-title question, John Lydon's voice makes me want to go put some good music on.

Phil Freeman (Phil Freeman), Thursday, 24 July 2003 16:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmm.. 'cuz listening to PiL makes me want to throw out all of the rest of my records.

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 24 July 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Didn't he have a guerilla-style reporting show on VH1? Someone told me he went to the Sundance film festival, or something, and just ripped people apart.

Kate Silver (Kate Silver), Thursday, 24 July 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

...brush my teeth.

thomas de'aguirre (biteylove), Thursday, 24 July 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

he used to have his own radio show. i remember it used to come on my local alternative station on noon every weekday and it ran for 30 minutes. this was long before i heard of the sex pistols, when green day and offspring were my "punk" outlets. he'd play a couple songs and bitch and moan about random music he thought was crap. i always thought he had a horrible speaking voice and was just a bastard in general and i used to wonder why they let him have his own show.

stirmonster, Thursday, 24 July 2003 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Radio - He had a thing called "Rotten Day" where he would do about 1-2 minutes of the days events in the morning.
TV - VH1 - "Rotten Television"

King Kobra (King Kobra), Thursday, 24 July 2003 18:56 (twenty-two years ago)

John Lydon's voice in Sex Pistols: Classic; makes me want to enjoy life more!
John Lydon's voice in PiL: Dud; makes me think of how much better Metal Box would sound if Lydon and Levene's "contributions" could be stricken from the master tapes.

tape whatever video he's in on VH1 Classic. Except I probably have it already. And it reminds me I need to read his autobiography again. And it reminds me I haven't purchased "Never Mind The Bollocks..." yet, though it's yet to make me buy it.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 25 July 2003 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I envision the male character (bearing Lydon) going to a bar, meeting a woman, going home with her, and spying her record collection-heavy on Elton John and Joni Mitchell. No, I haven't read "High Fidelity" lately. She puts on "Rocket Man", and he pretends to like it...for a little while...

Kate Silver (Kate Silver), Friday, 25 July 2003 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

....makes me wonder if I've shoved enough toxins down my neck yet to wrangle a nifty, tekno-hard-core voice-box out of the N.H.S.?

Preferably in 'egg-shell blue' with a hint of aquamarine (to match my tongue after my final exhalation).

It's a laff, innit!
That noise you make at the back of your throat!
(Do they do 'laffs' on current 'Blue Box Executive Model' I wonder?)
