we still haven't gotten copies at amoeba in SF, even though vocalcity still gets restocked regularly. i listened to the vinyl and at first listen thought there were way more vocals than vocalcity...and it was a bit of a turnoff. can anyone give me a good comparison review?

Mark - it's slightly different, perhaps ever so slightly inferior... although I only say that because they extend that synth-guitar solo from its interlude right through to the end, which means it overshadows slightly my favourite riff in the whole track which comes in near the end.

Luckily there's "Could Be Like This", which is like "The Present Lover" mark 2 (slightly less vocals) and is possibly (gasp) BETTER.

Well I downloaded it but it has the copy-protection bleeps (I've never run accross these before) -- there's 12 hours down the drain. I hope it comes out on CD in the States eventually.

Anyway, I love it. Not sure yet how I would rank it next to Vocalcity but v. nice.

Tim F. is right, it has a very dense sound, it's kind of weird. Certainly worth your time, but don't expect to be blown away at first. Holding out hope that it gets better.

Actually there are two tracks (it seems another one was loaded a month ago) - and they’re both so warm and comforting - still closer to the style of Plus than anything prior, but with some of the sharper edges of the Plus tracks carefully sanded away. It’s like he knew we needed to be comforted.
