Cripes when I mentioned them yesterday I thought people would be saying "who?" I don't know why I thought that, it was clearly mentalism.

Anyone seen Benjamin? Went to see that on a whim, not having kept up with Amstell since Grandmother's House, and it was a really lovely experience - clever, sad and, what stuck out to me the most, it really manages to make 2019 London look as pretty as it can be without forcibly choosing the most photogenic locations. It also felt more than a little Woody Allen - romantic comedy centred around a neurotic protagonist. I guess that space is vacant now.

Decided to check out a stand-up special of his on Netflix and it felt like it was covering a lot of the same ground but with less charm.

Also I've just realized that this Andi Oliver woman I keep seeing on TV, though I never knew her name till now, is not only her mother but used to be in Rip Rig & Panic.

This has got me looking into the fate of various '00s presenters. Alexa Chung fucked off to the US, Alex Zane has been reduced to presenting "funny videos that are on Youtube" compilation shows.

A couple (OK, probably about 5) NYEs ago I saw her crying her eyes out in a Hackney pub.

Amstell on the other hand I watched doing a pretty good stand up set at the end of last year.

She was on that thing where C List celebs drove from Thailand to Vietnam with Martin Kemp/Shirlie Holliman, Noel Edmonds and his wife and One of Rizzle Kicks and someone else.

She cried a lot on that too.

Excellent use of the licence fee by the BBC there.
