How has the years affected your views on these artists? And based on the M2OH thread I was just reading from the past, what do you feel was the role Joni Mitchell had on either of the artists?
I know its unfair to compare one of the hardest working artists from that group to one who managed one album in the 80s but those are the breaks.

what the hell has Jane Siberry done in the last 18 years?

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Quite a few albums, actually...

anthing, uh, good?
she's going to be playing here in two weeks, and I'm thinking of being out of town. Should I reconsider?

You should definitely see her. At least 3 lps of hers ('Boundy by the Beauty', 'The Walking' and 'When I was a boy') are classics. And her live shows can be pretty off the wall.

Shes done some intersting stuff, but but released over a series of albums it feels watered down.

Jane Siberry is quite possibly the most pretentious woman alive, but I'll always harbor some affection for her... I'm a Bound By the Beauty/When I Was a Boy/Maria kinda gal.

jane siberry is one of the few people that I'm embarassed to like. and I own yes albums! I don't know what it is. She is definitely over the top in the precious department. Actually now I don't have much time for anything other than When I Was A Boy but parts of that album are sublime.

A flatmate once lent me 'When I Was A Boy' but I didn't like it. I think the cover art put me off.

I loved Speckless Sky and No Borders Here when they were current, and never got into her subsequent ones (I think I have at least two). I haven't heard enough Mary Margaret O'Hara (and it was only at the end of these messages that I figured out who you were talking about) to judge, but Siberry is classic.

NickN, there's not much to hear - get Miss America. On the basis of what I remember of Jane Siberry, this comparison insults MMOH.

Did Tim Finney ever write his eagerly anticipated article on The Sib?

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Saturday, 2 August 2003 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Super precious, but classic for the straight run of No Borders Here(a favourite forever), Speckless Sky, and The Walking. I appreciate Bound By The Beauty as well, but never got into When I Was A Boy.

A live show would definitely be worth seeing; caught her solo, oh, two years ago? I plan on geting a ticket for her November Vancouver show.

Plus, No Borders Here has a gorgeous cover.
