I just got Metal Machine Music and about half of it consists of sounds that just might be my telephone ringing, so I'd better turn it down for a sec and check.

I can't even imagine what it would be like if I were high.

Close second is Sonic Boom's Data Rape.

based on the thread title,i was going to say gorecki's third symphony, cause it's really annoying when someone rings after about twenty minutes of it gradually building up into the most beautiful piece of music imaginable
taking into account the actual question, however, mezzanine by massive attack
i actually stopped listening to it during a phase where i really liked it cause i was constantly getting up thinking i heard the phone during it

Everytime my friend hears "Rock the Casbah" he mistakes those laser sounds for his cell phone, haha... its still funny

I'm not sure of this, but I think one of Marilyn Manson's earlier albums (Portrait of an American Family maybe?) featured a long, extended creepy coda that featured the sound of a softly ringing phone. That wouldn't help.

This is tangential, but I've learned that playing Dark Side of the Moon while you drift off to sleep is a mistake.

I always hear a cell phone ring in one of the tracks on Nirvana's Unplugged record--I think Where Did You Sleep Last Night?. It sometimes fools me into thinking it's mine.

Half of the urban pop today makes me think I hear either a car horn honking or my cell phone ringing.

yeah, timbaland and neptunes and all their biters - that kind of stuff often makes me turn down the stereo to check if it is actually the phone ringing.

Cornelius' Fantasma sounds like phones ringing, alarm clocks going off, oven timers buzzing, spaceships landing, little froo-froo cartoon animals fucking, etc, etc.

Something about the accoustics of my old apartment made the guitars in "You Turn Me On" sound (occasionally) exactly like our phone ringing. The fact that I've moved, have a new phone, and maybe that I (lazily, embarrassingly) play most of my CDs through my computer's speakers rather than walk across the room to fiddle with the stereo, has made this no longer an issue.

two weeks pass...
Tool's OPIATE. Right at the end during the climax a very faint telephone ring can be heard. Someone gets up/asks if thats the phone ringing - every time with out fail.

same happens to me every time i hear 'Basic Math" off the innerzone orchestra album - its more confusing cos it always sounds like the phone is ringing in the next room - its kinda muffled.

Kate Bush - The Sensual World
I listened to this for the first time yesterady, and one of the songs had a telephone that made me look around, thinking someone had left their cellphone here. Bleh!

Øystein Holm-Olsen (Øystein H-O), Sunday, 24 August 2003 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

that happens to me too when listening to MMM. same thing with jim orourkes happy days. i usually have them both playing at a ludicrously loud volume and i gw‡ú?cared and paranoid and pick up the phone every 5 minutes.

tom cleveland (tom cleveland), Sunday, 24 August 2003 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

There's a sound right next to the last chorus of Visqueen's "Vaxxine" that's a dead ringer for my phone...

... and by some really, really creepy coincidence the song just came on the radio, too. Well, it would be creepy if the song weren't so darn good.
