Defend the indefensible: Richard Ashcroft

It's smooth, heartfelt lovers' music. As long as you don't picture his head.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Saturday, 2 August 2003 08:52 (twenty-two years ago)

he's kinda ugly in an ugly way. but i picture him getting laid a lot still.

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Saturday, 2 August 2003 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

That's a dead cert, Bob. He surely gets laid whenever he wants. It's that rectangular, chiselled jaw line and those pouty lips. Above all, it's the fact that he's tall, pale, intense, thin and convinced of his own genius.

You see? You see? it's like Prince - one just can't set aside his physical appearance and just listen to the music no matter how hard one tries.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Saturday, 2 August 2003 09:04 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah but prince really makes me horny, and his visual appearance only adds to that. i mean, if you isolated "sex" as a seperate physical entity, something on its own and more than just a word, and then carfully sculpted it into human form, it would be prince. even though hes not traditionally attractive, he sorta looks a bit evil really, he is sex.

richard ashcroft on the other hand is just a lucky shit who gets too much tang.

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Saturday, 2 August 2003 09:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Forgive me, but Richard Ashcroft strikes me as a man who is probably rather well endowed. Whereas Prince... I just don't know... Rick James on the other hand, well.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Saturday, 2 August 2003 09:21 (twenty-two years ago)

However, yes, Prince is extremely horny visually. He's cocaine sex for the eyes.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Saturday, 2 August 2003 09:22 (twenty-two years ago)

also cocaine sex for the eyes - goldfrapp on top of the pops last night - i nearly creamed myself over that girl, she was like an evil french maid! ive heard very little goldfrapp before, but she was sex. oh yes.

rick james was doubtless hung like a zedonk, for sure. anyway as for richard ashcroft's music, well its better than john ashcroft's.

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Saturday, 2 August 2003 09:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Goldfrapp is one of those women who makes not being able to dance very well really sexy.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Saturday, 2 August 2003 09:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I certainly can't defend Dickie's recent musical output, but doesn't he get rubbished enough around here?

He's just a poor li'l wobbly fella, you know.

M Specktor (M Specktor), Saturday, 2 August 2003 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Junkie-ass lookin' creepazoidal freakazoid.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Saturday, 2 August 2003 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Anybody that wrote "A Song for the Lovers" can't be all bad.

Evan (Evan), Saturday, 2 August 2003 19:58 (twenty-two years ago)

is there a picture anywhere of that rolling stone cover? that was truly frightening.

scott seward, Saturday, 2 August 2003 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I know the search function is under repair but you can still use it and WE JUST HAD THIS SAME DAMN THREAD.

To shame you, wallpaper this photo on your desktop to shame and remind you to be more aware of ILX's archives.

Argh!Sorry. There's nothing new under the sun.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Saturday, 2 August 2003 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

jeez, some of you may not be aware but some of us search porn in a different mozilla window or tab at the same time as reading this bitch, and if some of us were to accidentally shoot off all over ashcroft by accident whilst switching windows, well, some of us might not be able to get to sleep tonight thanks to night terrors. so id like to recommend a ceasefire on the asscroft pics. unless they're photoshoped into hilarious situations of course.

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Sunday, 3 August 2003 09:44 (twenty-two years ago)

"Would you like me to seduce you?"

Not if said seduction involves a rabbit, no.

But that TOTP performance was the sexiest thing I've seen in weeks.

He got lucky with The Verve's third album, the success of which had as much to do with the timing of the release, the press inches gained from reforming, Noel Gallagher praising the band in interviews and the contributions of the rest of the band to the album as it did Ashcroft and his acoustic guitar led ditties.

I'll always love A Storm in Heaven and the earlier work which was more collaborative and before Ashcroft's ego ballooned. Seems like he's still a rock star, albeit in his own mind.

six years pass...

today's great poison pen review...

https://thequietus.com/quietus-reviews/richard-ashcroft-lovin-you/

How little music must one have been exposed to in order to actually enjoy the recent comeback single from this Lucky Man?

Surely this drivel would appeal only to those who are so culturally compliant that their favourite TV programme is The Real Housewives Of Vacuityville. As for the paintings on their living room walls? ‘Nice Set Of Pins #236 (working title)’ by Jack Vettriano. Rest in peace, big man....

Elvis Telecom, Tuesday, 7 October 2025 22:29 (one week ago)

The accuracy.
