bahtology, Sunday, 3 August 2003 12:04 (twenty-two years ago)

this is like the most ilm-canonical thing ever. but... it's all true.

brian eno - on land
jay-z - the blueprint
the avalanches - since i left you
nas - illmatic (does everyone 'come around' to this eventually? i think even sterl likes it now)
broadcast - the noise made by people
the beta band - hot shots ii
the streets - original pirate material
sonic youth - daydream nation
bob dylan - blonde on blonde
the beach boys - pet sounds (so obvious but it's my most recent purchase so.. uh.. be nice)
kelis - wanderland
mobb deep - hell on earth
boc - in a beautiful place etc
brian eno - music for airports
talking heads - remain in light

i hate making these lists. i always feel misrepresented by them. sometimes i think that it's less about 'favourites' and more about 'i've reached a level of comfort with these records such that i don't have to interrogate my reactions to them in a way that i would with other things that i might actually like even more than some of the music listed here but am afraid to include'. also, i definitely listen to more singles and single mixes than albums now, so everything here could fall under the 'records i've fallen asleep to' heading, because that's almost the only way i use albums anymore.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Sunday, 3 August 2003 12:39 (twenty-two years ago)

(abundance of 2001 releases prob because i bought more cds that year than any other, and i did most of the buying while travelling, so they're mixed up with certain kinds of memories/emotions.)

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Sunday, 3 August 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

(put gas's "pop" on there somewhere.)
(some of the albums i'm not sure about: the miss kittin muzik electrocalsh mix, coltrane - giant steps, aphex - saw ii, weezer - s/t; pinkerton, the fall - wonderful and frightening world of)

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Sunday, 3 August 2003 12:47 (twenty-two years ago)
