The Billy Ocean song that steals it's verse riff from Loverboy's "When It's Over" is named..."Loverboy!"

The Mariah Carey song that steals it's chorus from the Emotions' "Best of My Love" is named..."Emotions!"

Both classics. Are there any more examples of this? I can't remember if the Motorhead's "Ramones" steals from an actual Ramones song.

Letters to Cleo had a song called "Rimshack" - which was supposed to be "Kashmir" backwards, since they stole the riff from Zep

Alan Oldham - D. May '87

Sounds exactly like a Derrick May track from 1987. Unsurprisingly.

a long-forgotten early-90s indie band called Carey's Problem did a song called "Led Zeppelin", with a guitar riff and rhythm that totally could have come from the pen of James Patrick Page. They had a female singer who spoke-sung a bunch of Zep references over the top.

Maybe I'll try to rip it and put it up, it's pretty funny.

also, fIREHOSE "Under the Influence Of The Meat Puppets".

(Stereolab's unofficial titles for songs follow this often. "Metronomic Underground" = "Ono" on their setlists...)

the dandy warhols should save everyone time by just titling all their tracks after the bands they rip off
