So was it a rule that in the late '90s every drum & bass producer had to have at least one track titled "Digital"?

I mean, one guy even went and named himself Digital. WTF? Nothing ages faster than futurism.

(This question was brought to you tonight by M Matos in mass conversion of all his CDs to MP3 mode. Currently up: track five, disc one of New Forms, a.k.a. you-know-what.)

they're all pretty dire, actually, but if he was trying to make fun of d&b after it went south I guess he makes his point ok

The late 90s-never as cool as they were thought to be.

best only because i actually saw it once and then spent three months kicking myself for not buying it - i thought it was real! (only because i didn't see bogdan/rephlex anywhere on the cd package)

I dunno, Simon Reynolds' titles-go-south = music-goes-south theory stands up pretty well with this kind of stuff.

I'm a pretty big D&B fan with thousands of tunes, and the only one I have named Digital is the single by Goldie. What are some other examples?

This can't be complete, can it?

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Saturday, 9 August 2003 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

"Digital" was the default SaveAs filename for Cubase 2.0, maybe that explains it. Are you converting New Forms to MP3 so your computer can Trash the files quicker? Good idea.

So that's like about three drum and bass tunes ever called that, then?

hahahahahaha!!

I remember there being a couple more, but I'd have to dig through my collection again.

TS: "Digital" vs. "Rock and Roll"

So that's like about three drum and bass tunes ever called that, then?

...and the answer (to the question at the top) is NO, then, apparently.

M Matos (M Matos), Sunday, 10 August 2003 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

i can only think one one as well! but yeh you have Digital the artist too

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 10 August 2003 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

arg, forgot Roni Size Reprazent's 'Digital' - as good as the Goldie track if not better - something about Onalee's vocals on that one really do something for me, and they work well with the rolling beats, eventually

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 10 August 2003 18:48 (twenty-two years ago)

That one was one of the three, yes.
