Remake of the old tune, and I think one of the better songs on the radio at the moment.

Dreadful - the first time I heard it I thought it must be a comedy number!

Give me John Coltrane every time.

Didn't used to, but I like it now; quite a unique sound to it, certainly stands out positively compared to most of the UK charts recently (this Sunday especially saw far too much of the *same stuff*).

Dud I'm afraid. I really wanted to like it and still do, just because it's a terrific concept, but it's still awful.

can't hear it without thinking of Momus' "Sinister Themes", not that anyone in Big Brovaz' target audience will have any idea of that. when you've heard Nick Currie giving it his full menace ("laughter of stockbrokers ... musty old cellars" etc etc) it's very hard not to vomit when you hear all the "crazy 'bout Bentleys" stuff, though that's not really a fair comparison. I'm with the Lex on this; like the concept, don't like the song.

strangely, I was just listening to an old Network Chart (9th October 1988, like you cared) and when David Jensen played "Wee Rule" by the Wee Papa Girl Rappers, I instantly imagined Tim Westwood, who was on Capital then, saying exactly the same thing as he said when Big Brovaz were about to have their first hit, ie he didn't personally like it but it was good to see it in the charts (paraphrased, obv). funny the things ...

(trying to squeeze a garage-esque rhyming scheme into 6/8 time may have a lot to do with it)
