reissued. will i love this as much as i think i will?

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 8 August 2003 13:39 (twenty-two years ago)

It matched all my expectations. The bonus cd is okay too. Definitely reissue of the year so far.

Jeff W (zebedee), Friday, 8 August 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

got it a few weeks ago and have loved it so far. track 4 (i think--don't have it with me) is the early fave. that bassline! haven't given disc2 much of a chance yet. oh, and that one where the vocalists trade off on the "have you heard the latest news" thing. awesome.

i'm gonna buy this and 'Boy In Da Corner' this weekend

YES YES YES

vahid (vahid), Saturday, 9 August 2003 01:01 (twenty-two years ago)

every track is just a bassline and some 909s but it conjures the wooziness of filter traxx by timing the delays and reverbs on the hihats/snares JUST SO. so its like the cut-away skeletal view of french house, like listening to french house dreaming about shadows and just-glimpsed shapes in the dark.

the new (old) definition of deep.

Whole album is supremely good but there's something about Pariscyde in particular. Even more than the other tracks it sounds like a live hq club bootleg. Radiates incredible energy.

Weirdly I played this yesterday for the first time in years. It had somehow slipped out of my regular rotation but I know I'll be listening a lot again now that it's come back.

Humanitarian Pause (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 6 November 2024 13:39 (one year ago)

absolutely unfuckwithable. god tier. no idea what genre to even call it. dark and smoky yet also absolutely crystalline.

top 100 moments from this album? let’s go

1. about halfway through “neptune”, when they just let the bass take over

2. a few moments later, when a whirring, rotary sound starts whiffling into view, slowly, exciting a series of sparks that catch fire

Humanitarian Pause (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 10 November 2024 13:17 (one year ago)

the original "bad vibes" is so much better than the album version

groovemaaan, Sunday, 10 November 2024 23:49 (one year ago)

I’m not sure about that. The Source lab compilations are super great but this album is the perfect French Touch for me. Better than Daft Punk for a country mile and edges Super Discount by an inch..

As an occasional patron of the Parisian club scene in the late 90s and early 20s this set the agenda with the influence of DJ Yellow and other

mmmm, Friday, 15 November 2024 21:08 (one year ago)

One of the things I love about this album is how invested each track seems in building a vibe of (seemingly contradictory) laidback machinic intensity, this weird combination of Cajmere and DJ Shadow that seems to anticipate Theo Parrish as much as Daft Punk.

To my knowledge Parrish's first release was a few months later. Listen to a tune like "Lake Shore Drive" and it could pretty easily be on Pansoul.

xxxxp confident, pretty confident we would get to 100 just listening to neptune alone. too easy, so
