whats up with bands like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Liars and other new york copy cats getting terms like No Wave dropped on their style..... all I hear is weak ass blues explosion/ and low par jesus Lizard.... these bands wouldn't have lasted a second 10 years ago.
its funny how people like to put these bands up there with the scene's or sounds they're just pulling from. there's no inovation where as in the late 70's folks where taking a stab at something new. I remember reading some fuckin article saying the Clinic are like the new suicide! come on!
its like there's a real rut right now, post modern hell.

maybe you should stop listening to shitty rock music then?

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:33 (twenty-two years ago)

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:35 (twenty-two years ago)

sean g, Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:35 (twenty-two years ago)

like garage is the most post modern thing if you think about it cos it's proper criminals making music not those fake thugs like nas

sean g, Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:36 (twenty-two years ago)

you mean garage like john spencer blues explosion??

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not talking about what I listen to. i'm talking about the press and media

josh s. (josh stevenson), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:36 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:37 (twenty-two years ago)

hahaha xpost omg!!!! yeah onl6y english rappers are true crime niggas!!!! american rappers are all fake pussys!!!!

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:37 (twenty-two years ago)

it's amazing to me that when the rock press is touting the latest crop of mediocre rock bands thousands of people decide music is beyond the pale of rehabilitation.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:38 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah man john spencer was on a paper chase in da yonkers or whatever

sean g, Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:38 (twenty-two years ago)

josh s why dont you pick up a rap magazine then

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:39 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd love there to be beefs between, like, the editor of cmj and magnet

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:41 (twenty-two years ago)

rap ain't my thing,,, but I appreciate it......

re: jon spencer..... he kinda evolved out of something at least.... Pussy Galore where probably the best deconstructive rock band,.,,,, deffinatly influenced by no wave in ways,,, then he just took it to the root.... blues.

josh s. (josh stevenson), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:41 (twenty-two years ago)

i think 'no wave' might be my least favorite genre ever....i get all irrationally dave matthews fan 'they cant they play their instruments!!!!' about it, it just sounds horrible to me

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:43 (twenty-two years ago)

ethan i'm amazed you've even bothered to hear any!

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:43 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm a bit confused as to how one can reconcile "deconstructionist" rock with an appeal to "the root"

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:44 (twenty-two years ago)

unless you mean a dick

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:44 (twenty-two years ago)

jess my roommate and my cousin both like it, along with every creepy predatory record store clerk here in athens, its horrible.... i do like death valley 69 by sonic youth though!!!!

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:46 (twenty-two years ago)

haha even when it comes to no wave ethan has innately populist taste

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:46 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought that was obscure : ( i borrowed the album 'daydream nation' from this girl i knew bcz she liked it alot and i thought it would be like dv69 but it was terrible!!!!

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:48 (twenty-two years ago)

this was over two years ago i do know better now....oh wait also i saw them live!! it was ok, my friend pointed out jim orouke to me

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:49 (twenty-two years ago)

they looked very old but they were dressed like teenagers and had trendy haircuts....people in the audience were dancing and really having fun, it was confusing

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:50 (twenty-two years ago)

this was a while back when that album everbody liked just came out....my roommate bought it and sold it back a week later, i think i might have heard it once but it wasnt as good as death valley 69...also once on trl carson daly had a sonic youth shirt with a washing machine

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:51 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry this topic has kinda turned me into dk...i just wanted to post everything i know about sonic youth

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 10 August 2003 03:53 (twenty-two years ago)
