I'm only doing this thread bcz I told Dee in chat abt it (the birthday party came up during the chat).

So you watch the prog and then tell her abt it.

I bet it will horribly dull. TV is so dull. Its why punk happened in this country, you know.

Well Nick Cave's pretty dull these days too.

Freedom Dupont, Sunday, 10 August 2003 10:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Hopefully he'll reveal he's writing another book.

scottjames23 (worrysome-man), Sunday, 10 August 2003 10:50 (twenty-two years ago)

he's been writing another book for ages, it's no secret. unfortunately he's also writing another album

Wyndham Earl, Sunday, 10 August 2003 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

what info you heard about the new book?

scottjames23 (worrysome-man), Sunday, 10 August 2003 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Is he dead? Oh..... he isn't, shame.

Dadaismus (Dada), Sunday, 10 August 2003 15:56 (twenty-two years ago)

that's very 15 year old of you. frankly, I'm not surprised.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 10 August 2003 17:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Programme's over. It was amazing, from what I saw. What a likeable, open man Cave is. Blixa looks like Kevin the Teenager. Great footage from the Tate gig. No mention of Kylie as a hook for the gimps. Well-miked, not a lot of Bragg, well-sourced footage. But all the acerbic witty points taken.

Alan Connor (Alan Connor), Sunday, 10 August 2003 23:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought they fartsied the whole thing up a bit. The majority of tracks they played were of the piano ballad variety with only a nod to The Birthday Party's noisy past.

dog latin (dog latin), Sunday, 10 August 2003 23:58 (twenty-two years ago)

THE BRUTAL TRUTH OF THE MATTER

Nick Cave 2003: pretty good, but
Nick Cave 1984-1992: GREAT

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Monday, 11 August 2003 00:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Blixa looks like Kevin the Teenager.

Blixa's back with the Bad Seeds? Sorry, very recent Cave news is beyond my ken. And John's right of course.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 11 August 2003 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

he isn't back in the bad seeds, he was just commenting on cave's career.

Wyndham Earl, Monday, 11 August 2003 01:02 (twenty-two years ago)

It missed out the middle. It was like Birthday Party-Bad Seeds record Mercy Seat-Bad Seeds record atrocity called 'Nocturama'-the end.

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Monday, 11 August 2003 04:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I couldn't be bothered to watch it.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 11 August 2003 08:21 (twenty-two years ago)

when did blixa LEAVE the seeds? i thought he was on all the albums

thom west (thom w), Monday, 11 August 2003 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

500 i spy points for spotting him on The Boatman's Call, though

thom west (thom w), Monday, 11 August 2003 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I was going to watch this but then I watched Straw Dogs instead. Question: Has the South Bank show ever had anything actually new or vital to demonstrate about a pop artist?
