Non-traditional Chrimbletide tuniage? Loads of good ones...

Low's Christmas Album. Phil Spector's Christmas Album. Fortuna Pop!'s Christmas Comp.

Ah, shit, I've forgotten loads that sprang to mind straight away, but there are more... Not heard the Jeepster album, but there are supposed to be some good songs on there...

There was a Butthole Surfers Christmas 7" wasn't there?

I dunno, I'm still such a sucker for the Vince Guaraldi Chuck Brown Christmas soundtrack...

'i bounce like trampolines when i be blowing the feces to pieces / hymn em like sewing machines and jesus / when the shadows of the barrel pointing out my camaro / i get punished like pharaoh for splitting / you're better off singing christmas carols for christmas / because i'm on point like bow and arrow equipment / the president of chickenhead conventions'

because he mentions hymns AND 'christmas carols for christmas'. god bless you, redman.

Most "traditional" christmas music isn't traditional at all. Most of it was written by 19th century clergymen less than 150 years ago.

Elvis' Last Band: from PDX featuring members of the Dandy Warhols, King Black Acid etc before they were famous. an entire xmas lp, part drone, part scenester indulgence. actually quite good. but not commercially available (well, it is, from a bloke who you can e-mail)

sorry, being a completist also leads to obscurantism

Jeepsters 'It's a cool, cool christmas' is ACE! The Webb Bros. 'Every day is christmas' is the bestest Xmo song ever.

also good: Dandy Warhols 'Little drummer Boy' (no, really), Grandaddy 'Alan Parsons in a Winter Wonderland' (well, it's OK), Belle &Sebastian 'O Come O Come Emmanuel', Eels 'Everythings Gonna Be Cool This Christmas' (surprisingly)

And, and, and... LOW: 'JUST LIKE CHRISTMAS'. wonderful!

The Christmas Is Great/Solo Records CD by Baxendale is ace:

"I'm on a mission to maintain a children's disposition and even if you play Westlife I'll listen. Gimmie brussell sprouts, come on pile them on my plate. Christmas is great!"

Solo Records is, I believe, one of three (if memory serves) Baxendale songs about All Saints, though only one of them is *actually* about All Saints.
