it matters not from where i'm coming

white pepper isn't my favorite ween album -- but it has its high points ("exactly where i'm at," "flutes of the chi," the faux-steely dan-isms of "pandy fackler" and jimmy buffett-isms of "bananas and blow," and "stay forever" is one of their sweetest love songs in a career that [perhaps surprisingly] has quite a few sweet love songs).
nylon curtain has "allentown" (which is actually quite a good song) and the title song (which goes on a LITTLE too long but i still kinda like the chorus) ... and not much else AFAIC.

"Stay Forever" vs "Laura"
― billstevejim, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 02:20 (fifteen years ago)
by "title song" of nylon curtain, i meant "goodnight saigon" -- which is kind of plodding and clunky, but as i said had a pretty good chorus.

ok i quite like that song abt allentown, and is it mere coincidence that both these bands have roots in PA? also wtf nobody's mentioned the power of stroker ace and the grobe? the wierd lucidity of ice castles? the overall vibe of wide eyed empathy through songs like where i'm at, flutes of the chi, even if you don't . . . i think this album is loaded. every track is a winner. i'm gonna poll this sumbitch . . .

xp Push the little daisies is not the worst of ween..
― billstevejim, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 20:04 (fifteen years ago)
i only know push the little daisies, and i love it more than any billy joel song (except for maybe allentown or a matter of touch).

he is. (though there is a levittown in PA as well -- it's a suburb of Philadelphia, and not that much different than the one in NY.)
also, not that long ago i found out that ween recorded the mollusk in a studio (in NJ) that back then was owned by a good high-school friend of mine. so that's my version of name-dropping.

here is a levittown in PA as well -- it's a suburb of Philadelphia, and not that much different than the one in NY.
that was the idea. pre-fab towns.
"pressure" - good song, good video.
nylon curtain also gets points for billy's over-enunciated F-bomb in "laura" and the for the two clumsy but endearingly sincere attempts at cloning the psychedelic-era beatles on side two.
the new wave reaction album that came out right before it and the pre-beatles pop homage album that came out right after it were both way better and far more popular.
