I'm sure I've spelt acapellas wrong, it's a constant problem.

Anyway I only really know Mr Fingers and I want to make a mix and maybe use a different one if I can download it.

What say ye?

weirdest thing about "the poem": decrying FASSYISM on a 1990 ny house track! (i know that's kinda the point but still!)

A DANCER. yeah. and when a dancer's moving on the floor, grooving in his garden, i call them - FLOORPIECES. yeah. FLOORPIECES. when a SEED sprouts a DANCER i call them FLOORPIECES - yeah.

now U wanna B? U wanna B somebody? U can be 1 of 2 things. yeah. look at this record. when it makes U feel like moving. gettin UP. gettin down on the floor. U a FLOORPIECE. shining. moving. growing with the music. but IF!!! this record i'm playing. makes you want to listen. and puts you on the side. then i call U - A WALLFLOWER. YES. if this seed sprouts up a WALLFLOWER. then they're on the side. making room for the FLOORPIECES.

U either a WALLFLOWER. or a FLOORPIECE.

and the music is like the rain. comin DOWN. makin U WET. gives U what U need 2 grow again. THE LIGHTS. are like the sun. shinin down on the FLOORPIECES. they feel THE HEAT. YEAH. now these combinations. can make beautiful flowers. those are MY dancers. HOUR after HOUR. midnight gardening. I AM THE DJ. now come in my midnight garden. and rock the night away. so what U want 2 b?

a WALLFLOWER?
or a FLOORPIECE?
the music is the power

Damn. And I was just gonna mention "Musical Freedom"

LondonLee (LondonLee), Friday, 16 January 2004 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

There are a bunch of classic disco acapellas that were turned into house classics.

I've heard "Let No Man Put Asunder" on top of everything and by itself as well.

one month passes...
look, i'm gonna to talk to you. can i ask you a question?
i want everyone to be honest with me, ok?

i want everyone out here tonight that has ever loved, that lost before, to raise your hand. let me see, it ain't no big thing! all right! all right!

is there ANYONE out here tonight that has ever been with someone but was wishing you could be with somebody else?? see i know that some of y'all out here tonight wanted to raise your hand, but you standing in the situation whereas ... NEED I SAY MORE???

you see i asked the question once, really, i asked the question, i said is there anybody out here tonight that has loved and lost? a lady looked at me, really, a lady looked at me and she said, "mind yo damn tongue ... i haven't seen a man FINE ENOUGH or GOOD ENOUGH ... that i would WASTE MY TEARS and cry over him"

but you know what i told her? i said "bitch..."

(lots of crazy applause and hooting)

"keep on living and and don't you dare die! cause you'll see, you'll get up one morning and you'll look into that same mirror you been looking into every morning ... and you'll see the ugliest mug, you ever seen in your life!!!"

you see, i'm so glad i found out it takes a fool to learn that love don't love nobody! see a whole lot of these crazy mo-[crowd yells "fuckers"!] ... they can tell you "well honey, ain't nobody ever broke my heart, ain't nobody ever got my mind" ... THEY HAVE NOT LIVED YET. because if they live, and keep on ... keep on living and don't die ... somebody ... gonna ... TEAR ... THAT ... UP!!

CAN I GET A WITNESS???

let me tell you something, too! some never let someone know that they're gettin you down. you see if you let them know that they're gettin you down honey, they're gonna kick you! don't bend over you'll get the shock of your life!!!

you see that sometimes that's what we do. when we fall in love, when we lose that certain ... that certain girl, that certain girl, that certain him ... we just don't wanna live no more. we just sit at home, we don't take a bath, we don't ... mop.

honey, don't do that.

THROW YOUR HAND UP IN THE AIR
HOLD YOUR WIG SO IT WON'T COME OFF
AND KEEP ON TRUCKING!!

you'll find out that don't no one monkey don't stop no show ... you probably was cryin cause they was ugly in the first place!

you see, i cried before, so those of you that know what it is to have cried, if you have found somebody that you care about today this song is for you. is there anybody out here tonight that in love?

let me see? no-one over here?!? oh, you s'posed to have your hand up, honey!!!

all you lucky people, you see this song is for y'all, because YOU ARE THE LUCKY ONES.

vahid (vahid), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

this is millie jackson, if you can track down a copy of "ron hardy's resurrection" by MFON on soma quality recordings its reproduced in full over these thick layers of filtered disco horns and expanding tribal breaks. its really something, especially if you're into crydamoure, etc.

vahid (vahid), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 20:32 (twenty-one years ago)

slightly off topic but does anyone know what the origin of the 'music is music...' speech that weatherall used on his primal scream 'come together' mix is?

stirmonster, Wednesday, 10 March 2004 20:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Roland Clark - "I get deep"

"I get deep, I get deep, I get deeper
Into this thing..."

It's the one Fatboy slim sampled on that song. Forget the name.

"You know, whenever you don't want to bow down, to the gods that the people bow down to, those that have some kind of power they want to make it difficult for you - they may have some control over your job, or some control over your money or some control over some aspect of your life or some control over some desire that you want ot have fulfilled...

... you won't get this, you won't get that, and most of you will bow down, you give in.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BOW DOWN TO NOTHING YOU DON'T WANT TO BOW DOWN TO

Somebody got to help you get control over your life and your destiny again."

Romanthony - "Hold on"

Jacob (Jacob), Sunday, 30 May 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)
