RFI: 90s Indie death by car crash

The news of the death of a musician reminded me of another indie band whose singer died after a car crash. I can't remember the name of the group, but I wanted to find some of their stuff, as they were supposed to be quite good.

What I remember:
They stopped recording after his death
They had very little output total - maybe only an EP and singles, at most an LP
They might have been a Midwestern noise band (Steve Albini keeps popping into my head, but I might be thinking of another band).

I hate it when I only vaguely remember details, rendering Google useless. "Indie crash EP singer" doesn't net a large number of helpful results.

Maybe Gaunt, from Columbus? The dude was hit by a car (drunk driver?) while riding his bike home late one night..

(I mean, if Jim's answer wasn't who you were thinking of)

Yeah, Brainiac's Tim Taylor is the one that comes to mind. He was involved in a single-vehicle collision on his way back from a band practice in Dayton, Ohio. They had three full lengths (two on Grass and one on Touch and Go), all recorded by GVSB's Eli Janney, and an EP recorded by J. O'Rourke.

When Jerry Wick died, Gaunt had put out four albums and broken up(?) after their one major label album. Doubt it's them, but they're still worth checking out if you've never heard them.
