Since they've sneakily been accruing love on here lately, what with the recent Poptones threads etc... 100 shouldn't be too hard, given' there's at least four people that love the thing.

ONE

My copy is stuck underneath my bed somewhere and I can't get far enough under to find it and I'm missing it terribly.

THREE

and it makes me gabble incoherently about heavy blue skies and fields and water lapping at feet and hazy late-August sunshine and the whole summer-drawing-to-close poignancy thing and it's twinkly and romantic but also juggernaut and chunky and rolling and weirdly uncynical-sounding and lying in long grass staring at the sun and really it sounds like a culmination of some kind, one of the most perfectly self-styled self-crafted records of the last few years I love Sing-Sing so much dammit more please (this is more than one reason really)

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 14 August 2003 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

6) "Panda Eyes" does the space travel as a metaphor for drug use thing that i love so much

7) "I Can See You" churns beautifully and i love its chorus

keith (keithmcl), Friday, 15 August 2003 02:01 (twenty-two years ago)

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Friday, 15 August 2003 02:48 (twenty-two years ago)

10) "Feels Like Summer" was actually a summer song that didn't make you want to retch. Great little tune.

abegrand, Friday, 15 August 2003 03:20 (twenty-two years ago)

11) "panda eyes" b-side "office party" is one of the greatest put-down-a-sleazoid tracks ever!!

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Friday, 15 August 2003 03:22 (twenty-two years ago)

12) The bass noodle under the intro to Tegan.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 15 August 2003 12:24 (twenty-two years ago)

13) I always assume the guy who sings on the hidden track at the end is Dickon Edwards even though it obviously isn't.

Alex in Doncaster (Alex in Doncaster), Friday, 15 August 2003 20:59 (twenty-two years ago)

14) This thread prompted me, when I saw it used today, to buy it. I've been on a Lush minikick anyway.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 15 August 2003 21:16 (twenty-two years ago)

15) HA! I thought you were talking about that Swing Swing song for a minute there.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 16 August 2003 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

16) emma doesn't look nearly as rough as miki.

keith (keithmcl), Saturday, 16 August 2003 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Does it have 'I'll Be' on it? I have a promo copy of that somewhere and it's really good, but I've never even seen the album.

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 16 August 2003 18:48 (twenty-two years ago)

17) Yes.

18) Me & My Friend = TATU two years early, though less teenage and Russian and such. But still topper.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 16 August 2003 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

sing-sing crap all over tatu

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Saturday, 16 August 2003 23:17 (twenty-two years ago)

19) I'll Be is kind of the Henry's Cat theme, sort of

Alex in Doncaster (Alex in Doncaster), Monday, 18 August 2003 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I FOUND MY COPY!!!

It was in a CD rack.

20) I just pnated a bloody great kiss on the card sleeve of my promo copy of this record. I've not done that in, oh, ever.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 23 August 2003 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

pnated = planted.

21) The broke-down music box as the intro to Everything.

22) Fades into lone plucked guitar.

23) Later on it's joined by theis sort of Close Encounters kind of electro swoop thing. Bit Goldfrapp-y. But better.

24) "At least I have shaved the heels right off my shoes." The 'stirring dance' of 2001.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 23 August 2003 21:25 (twenty-two years ago)

25) Am seriously thinking Emma Anderson is one of the greatest backing vocalists ever.

26) Can't think of any other great backing vocalists.

27) Thus, Emma Anderson is the greatest backing vocalist ever.

28) The end of Tegan. Those echo'd vocals oer the pulse. Breathtaking.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 23 August 2003 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

29) I'll Be - it swings.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 23 August 2003 21:32 (twenty-two years ago)

30) Am seriously thinking of foudning record company solely to release Sing-Sing's stuff.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 23 August 2003 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

31) Panda Eyes - Ladytron but unsuccessful.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 23 August 2003 21:43 (twenty-two years ago)

32) Cos Sing-Sing never got on telly. Panda Eyes is great. But Sing-Sing were never on Born Sloppy.

33) Is what I mean.

34) Me & My Friend is so damn soft... fresh new pillows, freshly washed sheets, nice warm duvet... don't pretend that's not fantastic.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 23 August 2003 21:45 (twenty-two years ago)

35) Far Away From Love - that sunlight streaming through the windows sound that the coffee-table bands (Lighthouse Family, Morcheeba, Zero 7 etc) go for, but ends up sounding like it's just the sunlight streaming through the windows of the programme on TV? Far Away From Love sounds like sunlight streaming through the windows. The "ba-doo-ba-baaa" bit does in any case.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 23 August 2003 21:48 (twenty-two years ago)

36) Feels Like Summer - "Hello, we are Sing-Sing. We wear those big black plastic oval-rimmed sunglasses like Magenta DeVine used to. And they look just fabulous on us, baby..."

37) And by god can you handclap to it.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 23 August 2003 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

40)'Far Away From Love' is exactly as described above. wow.

derrick (derrick), Monday, 25 August 2003 07:03 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
41. Any record where the four credited samples are from The Geoff Love Orchestra's Big Western Movie Themes LP, Locust, Tommy James and The Shondells and "The Twins At St Clare's" is obviously going to be great. But it's even better than that makes it sound. I shall save further thoughts for LJ, but... wow.

(Can someone please link here the thread for this year's follow-up LP? I couldn't find it using Search. Thanx.)

Jeff W (zebedee), Monday, 1 August 2005 09:35 (twenty years ago)

I listened to this on the train this morning for the first time in a few months, it set me up for the day, lots. I love the new album quite a bit, but pretty much any record would falter in comparison to this one.

Alex in Sheffield (Alex in Doncaster), Monday, 1 August 2005 10:24 (twenty years ago)

...if you think the "Joy of.." is great, and i do... wait until you hear the new "Sing Sing and I"... UTTER CLASS! and my fave pop record of the year.

Lisa and Emma with Mark in the production helm are a holy trinity.
