MTV's Kennedy?

Jon Williams (ex machina), Thursday, 14 August 2003 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw her on Hollywood Squares the other day.

dleone (dleone), Thursday, 14 August 2003 19:41 (twenty-two years ago)

she has her show on the very very presigious Game Show Network. It's called Friend of For. The grand prize is you get to appear on a game show that doesn't have Kennedy on it.

seven years pass...

Damien Rice?
Mylo?

The Return Of Mylo

Siegbran, Saturday, 8 January 2011 22:10 (fifteen years ago)

Techno/New Beat pioneer Frank De Wulf: disappeared after 97. Where is he now?

Siegbran, Saturday, 8 January 2011 22:16 (fifteen years ago)

As it happens, he woke up in 2010 too: http://frankdewulf.com/

Ah, thanks for that Mylo link. He's completely gone back to DJing, then? Pity. I liked that album of his.

StanM, Saturday, 8 January 2011 22:38 (fifteen years ago)

What happened to all the 2nd-tier IDM dudes (Global Goon, Kid 606, Bochum Welt etc)?

=(^ • ‿‿ • ^)= (corey), Saturday, 8 January 2011 22:42 (fifteen years ago)

Kid606 is quite active, released an album called Songs About Fucking Steve Albini last year: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Songs_About_Fucking_Steve_Albini

StanM, Saturday, 8 January 2011 22:52 (fifteen years ago)

think Damien Rice still quietly releases albums for the local radio morning playlist tesco album christmas-present-for-your-mum buyer market

reallysmoothmusic (Jamie_ATP), Sunday, 9 January 2011 00:27 (fifteen years ago)

kid606 was 1.5th tier idm dude!

max bro'd (nakhchivan), Sunday, 9 January 2011 00:29 (fifteen years ago)

now that I think of it the only album I really remember is "Down With the Scene". I'd like to revisit this stuff but I have a feeling I'd hate it now.

I liked Global Goon a lot — used to play "Vatican Nitez" quite a bit.

are Comets on Fire done or just quietly hiatusing?

Antoine Bugleboy (Merdeyeux), Sunday, 9 January 2011 01:19 (fifteen years ago)

He's completely gone back to DJing, then? Pity. I

he was never a DJ

basically just a 2/47 freak out (sic), Sunday, 9 January 2011 11:08 (fifteen years ago)

that is, he started DJing after people started playing his records, because he got offered money to do so, and by all accounts sucked balls at it

Kid606 is one of those artists who's album titles sounded so childishly stupid I never bothered to even try them. Looks like he's continuing the tradition.

Tuomas, Sunday, 9 January 2011 14:55 (fifteen years ago)

But speaking of lesser known IDM artists, where is the Higher Intelligence Agency? He released a couple of nice, Warp-style albums in the early 90s, but since then he seems to have done only collabs with Pete Namlook and Biosphere, and even the latest of those was in 2000.

And what about Vapourspace/Mark Cage? I still occasionally play the Themes from Vapourspace album, it's pretty dope. Where is this guy now?

Tuomas, Sunday, 9 January 2011 15:03 (fifteen years ago)

Bobby Bird, the guy from HIA, is now with Modulate, it's some kind of audiovisual thing: http://www.modulate.org.uk/

StanM, Sunday, 9 January 2011 15:50 (fifteen years ago)

They have a DVD too - excerpts here http://www.cuttlefish.net/oscillate/headphone/h005.html

StanM, Sunday, 9 January 2011 15:51 (fifteen years ago)

I think Howlin' Rain put an end to Comets on Fire

bendy, Sunday, 9 January 2011 16:01 (fifteen years ago)

Bochum Welt doesn't seem to have released any new music for ages, but he has written an iPhone game for Thomas Dolby o_O: http://twitpic.com/3nrtg3

I thought Global Goon was another candidate for "reappeared in 2010" seeing as I heard of him doing something new for the first time in years recently, but apparently he had something out in 08 too.

Would like to know what happened to Mark Gage of Vapourspace too; he reappeared with the Mimi & Boyd album a few years back (2002, apparently) and did some press at that time so I was hoping for more material, but I haven't heard anything from him since.

Global Goon is playing the Bloc Weekender in March

I always thought you could tell how much dude is a child of the internet by the fact half his titles sound like ILX display names

Like Front242?

Siegbran, Sunday, 9 January 2011 16:55 (fifteen years ago)

"Luke Vibert Can Kiss My Indie Punk Whiteboy Ass"

=(^ • ‿‿ • ^)= (corey), Sunday, 9 January 2011 18:02 (fifteen years ago)

deejeuner sur l'herb (nakhchivan), Sunday, 9 January 2011 18:04 (fifteen years ago)

at that point i felt he was trolling us and burnt my copy of ...fucking jams...

deejeuner sur l'herb (nakhchivan), Sunday, 9 January 2011 18:05 (fifteen years ago)

... the only Kid 606 album I need

Yeah, after I posted my last comment I noticed the existence of this album, and ordered it on Amazon since you can get it dirt cheap. But 2002 is still a long time ago, it's sad if he's stopped releasing any music after that. Wasn't he some kind of a pioneer of the US rave scene?

Tuomas, Monday, 10 January 2011 09:38 (fifteen years ago)

You can tell how much of a child I am by the fact I find Kid 606's album titles amusing

basically just a 2/47 freak out (sic), Monday, 10 January 2011 12:10 (fifteen years ago)

kid606's more subdued music is great

the GQ On The EQ 10" is nice low key timestretch ambient

PS I Love You kinda like a DSP forerunner to Oneohtrix Point Never

way more interesting than the buffer overide hyper amen break stuff

missingNO, Monday, 10 January 2011 12:23 (fifteen years ago)

What's Giorgio Moroder doing these days? Has he released any new music since 1992?

Tuomas, Tuesday, 11 January 2011 13:33 (fifteen years ago)
