Barima (Barima), Monday, 18 August 2003 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

this chart is uncannily like two gorillas in the jungle, making love

stevem (blueski), Monday, 18 August 2003 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

it was a cool thread until Barima hijacked it with the Greatest Hits cds of a bunch of crappy groups.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Monday, 18 August 2003 18:10 (twenty-two years ago)

true

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Monday, 18 August 2003 18:14 (twenty-two years ago)

meowch, i think he killed it but at least the vast majority of tunes he picked are great (Waterboys tho, what the dilly?)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 18 August 2003 18:42 (twenty-two years ago)

he pickt 300 songs by eight artists

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Monday, 18 August 2003 18:44 (twenty-two years ago)

he so cray-zeh

should've been a 'five song maximum' for any one artist i think

stevem (blueski), Monday, 18 August 2003 18:57 (twenty-two years ago)

but i was touched by his enthusiasm, and his freakish ability to read my mind with many of the choices (not that i'd have listed the same artist more than five times tho)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 18 August 2003 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

That hijacking was total crap. Like someone mentioned before...where is the Sabbath? There was no Electric Prunes either. I demand a withdraw of at least 10 Lemon Jelly tracks, and most of the Chemical Brothers ones as well. In the interest of fairness, i would like to replace them all with Wesley Willis songs.

Fecal Jesus (mawill), Monday, 18 August 2003 19:08 (twenty-two years ago)

feeeeeecaaaal jeeeeeeesus
feeeeeecaaaal jeeeeeeesus

fecal jesus rocked da great western forum in inglewood california

feeeeeecaaaal jeeeeeesus

wesley fuckin willis (nickalicious), Monday, 18 August 2003 19:41 (twenty-two years ago)

(ps I was kinda trying to keep mine refined to more obscure-but-totally-need-to-be-heard tracks...and I stand by "I Am Evil Homer" as the #1 track you should download before you die...SERIOUSLY FOX!!!)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 18 August 2003 19:42 (twenty-two years ago)

i fuckin agree! not only that Barima guy but plently people chose wads of songs by single artists - who the fuck wants to hear ten chemical Brothers songs? have heard 2 or 3 in my life and never want to hear any more! Primal Scream?!! fuck them!!! i I demand a recount! i say we are still at 569 without these manipulating bastards!

colin o'hara (jed_e_3), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:11 (twenty-two years ago)

or maybe 372 or sumthin...

jed_e_3 (jed_e_3), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:13 (twenty-two years ago)

_400 Angry Samoans - "Lights Out!"

Ooops. We are now at #399.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 11:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I obviously didn't make my penitent state clear enough yesterday. I apologise for going overboard-as stevem said, and I agreed, I am a mentalist. He's right about my overenthusiasm too but no disrespect, I don't mean no harm.

BTW, haters step off-I love my choices and if you don't, go read Blender!

Heh.

Barima (Barima), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

this was a stupid idea anyway - so might as well fuck it up bigstyle

to be honest, the first 500 was pretty good...it should've stopped there - the remaining 500 being left unpicked

if it was my own personal top 1000 there would probably be 2 or 3 Lemon Jelly tracks, and about 50 Chemical Brothers ones...and no Sabbath or Wincey Willis

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

**jokey defensiveness** The thing about personal lists is ppl popping up and getting at you for liking Lemon Jelly and the Chemicals in the 1st place! **jokey defensiveness**

My fave was probably gaz for the Vanity 6 track.

Barima (Barima), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, we should all fight and argue about this because obviously this list is canonical and we're going to be judged on this til the end of time. All of us.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 13:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, we should all fight and argue about this because obviously this list is canonical and we're going to be judged on this til the end of time. All of us.

"we're going to be judged on this til the end of time. All of us."

Only God can judge me.

eight years pass...

I feel like we should do this once again 8 years later but limiting the songs per single artist to 2 or 3 to keep it interesting. Problem with the limit would be some users would nominate per example Faust Arp or We Suck Young Blood instead of having Reckoner or Fake Plastic Trees as representatives for a band like Radiohead.

that would be terrible. better not risk it.

contenderizer, Monday, 23 July 2012 07:09 (thirteen years ago)

A new one or the limit?

Moka, Monday, 23 July 2012 07:15 (thirteen years ago)

Only Radiohead song in here is Worrywort and I'm ok with this. There's some really good things in here I've been listening new stuff all afternoon and I'm loving almost everything in here.

Moka, Monday, 23 July 2012 07:17 (thirteen years ago)

i'm just worried about faust arp

contenderizer, Monday, 23 July 2012 07:17 (thirteen years ago)

do a new one though. would be fun, and most of us will likely survive.

contenderizer, Monday, 23 July 2012 07:18 (thirteen years ago)

are we nominating artists we'd like to bankrupt?

contenderizer, Monday, 23 July 2012 07:19 (thirteen years ago)

mmm you know maybe setting as a rule that noone gets to list more than 20 songs or so would reduce joke votes. This being ILM who knows if it makes any difference.

it was a cool thread until Barima hijacked it with the Greatest Hits cds of a bunch of crappy groups.
