ok i read in the source that skillz is in the lab right now making tracks with a buncha producers and one of them was NOTTZ and i thought huh has there ever been a nottz thread on ilm NO!!! so im gonna do a thing on underrated beatmakers maybe ill even get up to ten...nottz is beautiful dude did TWO songs that sample teh musical oliver, boogieman's wonderful masta ace dis 'just you wait' and flipmode's 'whatcha come round here for', the flipmode track doesnt have hard knock life-style kiddie chorus like the boogieman one does its just straight beatnuts xylophone scalp massager pleasure...hes the main flipmode producer but i never got their album because LORD HAVE MERCY is the worst mc name in hiphop, i keep saying i will if i ever see it cheap but apparently the oonly ppl that bought it were like crazy stalkerish hardcore flipmode fans and id have to pry it from their cold dead hands!!!!! ok heres some other songs nottz has done:

m.o.p. - HOME SWEET HOME haha this actually has lord have mercy on it oops, he sounds sleepy and ridiculous just like any non m.o.p. mc does on their songs even though he says 'these boys in the hood we poison your hood', this is one of my fav tracks on warriorz though and probably one of my fav m.o.p. songs ever its catchy and shit but still hardcore, its a hard balance to keep with that sorta beat!! he also did the craig g song with mr cheeks, lots of flipmode and busta of course but notably pass the courvosier pt one and the beautiful 'get out' w the joyful ugly ducking chorus that tom so wrongly dissed on ilm before, also a bunch of shit on the rah digga lp, snoop posse cut 'dont make a wrong move' with mr kane/special ed/prodigy, that krumb snatcha song, etc etc etc etc etc....i kinda just wanna talk about the orchestral kiddie chorus stuff though, how brilliant is nottz!!! does anyb9ody have the flipmode album, is he on it a lot?!?

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 00:45 (twenty-two years ago)

weirdly i only know 'get out' from the greatest hits where its between the awesome swizz beatz track 'tear da roof off' and scott storches awesome BLADOW!!! and its still one of my fav busta tracks!!!

here is the lame and embarrassing tom post where he hates on 'get out' and jayz - 'anything'

anything wasnt produced by nottz its sam sneed but its such a nottz-jocking track i might as wellk talk about it here, i like it a lot since i heard it as the bonus track on the first beans album, it has tender inspirational jigga verses and the beat is really funny!!!! tom i hope you will come defend yourself!!!!

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

: ( whats with all the oliver sample hatorfication?!?!!? DO YOU HATE TWEE GAY RAP!!!!!

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 00:56 (twenty-two years ago)

on the busta tip yall should also check out 'iz they wildin wit us and gettin rowdy wit us' featuring the unimitatible MYSTIKAL!!!! im not feelin the guitar shit so much but that fast beat is murder and busta and mystikal kill it, its wild

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 01:01 (twenty-two years ago)

ts LORD HAVE MERCY vs SPLIFF STAR

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 01:03 (twenty-two years ago)

- I just saw the 'Anything' video a little while ago. I loved it. He drove his mom out to the house at the end of the video, the house he drew, and it was so good and it made me cry.

I wanted to buy the CD. I searched for the word 'anything' on every Allmusic Jay-Z album page. But I couldn't find it. The word 'anything' isn't used in any Jay-Z Allmusic review. And it's not listed in the tracklist for any of them.

When I listen to it in my car I like to count off the names he says, 'My nigga Dame, my nigga Biggs, my nigga Tah, my nigga Ja, my nigga Gotti.' I just put out a finger for each of them. There are five.

I like when he says: 'Thanks for the days you kept me breathing when my asthma was bad / And my chest was wheezing, thanks for the look of love.' And when he said: 'I know mama, your little baby / But these streets raised me crazy,' I thought it was so good that he said that, I had to look it up because I thought I heard it wrong. It's really simple but it's the whole song.

- 'Home Sweet Home' is awesome. It sure doesn't sound like a beat for M.O.P., though. He says 'Check it' at the start and you expect something serious to come on, but it's something else.

d k (d k), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 01:37 (twenty-two years ago)

anything was just like a single or something but its a bonus track on the beanie sigel album 'the truth' which you should get its fire and its one of my favorite cds ever...it has bleek and jay and eve and scarface, and beats by kayne and bink and just blaze and rockwilder and buckwild, theyre all giant thug anthems with big drums and trumpets and shit....download 'who want what' with bleek or 'the truth' beans kills this kayne beat with organs or 'mac and brad' with face its real laid back or 'what your life like' its a cinematic prison story...his second cd 'the reason' is good too but get 'the truth' first

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 01:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom's gonna kill you trife!

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 02:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I had that Flipmode album, but sold it when I moved a couple years back. Honestly, I just couldn't get past Spliff Star & Lord Have Mercy. (Also, I'm gonna have to go with Lord Have Mercy in both the name & talent sweepstakes.)

Nottz probably does most of his (notable) work for Busta and random VA dudes. Trife, have you heard The Bad Seed? He's a decent MC and you might like the track for "Unnhhhh," it's got Xmasy sounding chimes and maybe some looped children's choir sounds.

JS Williams (js williams), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 03:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I was hoping this would be about Nottingham's vibrant hip hop scene, and I was hoping that someone would be able to tell me just what exactly is going on with Out Da Ville.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 07:48 (twenty-two years ago)

hey tim do you know anything about lady armani. shes like, 12, and some mc from nottingham. some kids in york played her tune..it was pretty heavy, but i cant find anything else about her anywhere.

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 08:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, no. I'll let you know if I hear anything though.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 09:08 (twenty-two years ago)

boogieman 'just you wait' is wonderful but it's not Oliver-sampling, it's My Fair Lady, and it's not a kiddie chorus, it's Eliza Doolittle sounding fuckd up and menacing!

pete b. (pete b.), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 09:12 (twenty-two years ago)

whatcha come round here for is still sick

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 24 August 2003 02:56 (twenty-two years ago)

trife who will be next in the top ten? i was going to suggest shondrae who did 'what's your fantasy', but i don't really know anything else he's done except for other tracks on that ludacris album (i love 'u got a problem?' and 'stick em up' is good too). so i googled him and found him hanging around on the futureproducers.com forum... he seems to be a bit of a dick! but this is what he is doing:

*2 fast 2 furious movie soundtrack

*ludacris-chicken and beer (dtp records)

*Shawnna-worth tha weight(dtp records)

*Tity boi-U.S.A. Tity (dtp records) (dont ask me about this one lol)

*Mystikal-Prince of tha south (jive records)

*Twista-kamakazi (atlantic records)

*Jagged edge(columbia records)

*Madden 2004 ps2 soundtrack (dtp records)

*lil fate/ and I-20 (dtp records) ( Early 2004)

*Pastor troy(2004) (universal records)

*Haystak (def jam south recordings) (2004)

*Blade 3 movie soundtrack(dtp records/marvel music)

*Disturbing tha peace compilation (dtp records) ( mid 2004)

*Spider-man 2 movie soundtrack(dtp records/columbia records)(summer 2004)

*Ludacris (dtp records) (late 2004)

*Def jam compilation (everybody from rocafella records to us at dtp records) (late 2004 maybe 2005) To be determined
(island def jam recordings)

*Shondrae- vice-versa (late 2004 or early 2005) To be determined (dtp records/its bangladesh entertainment/def jam south recordings)

anyway one really hot beat (fantasy) probably does not warrant top ten underrated beatmaker status so who will you write up instead?

minna (minna), Sunday, 24 August 2003 05:09 (twenty-two years ago)

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 24 August 2003 05:53 (twenty-two years ago)

it's a great song trife! it makes me think of those videos of the gulf war with no sound and with night vision, so everything is very clear and matter of fact, full of dread but also completely predetermined and inevitable. i love all those other songs too, especially are we cuttin

minna (minna), Sunday, 24 August 2003 06:06 (twenty-two years ago)

it sounds like shitty industrial music that dan and ned would like!! like skinny puppy or something!!

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 24 August 2003 06:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Please do the ten trife!

Keith McD (Keith McD), Sunday, 24 August 2003 06:21 (twenty-two years ago)

i guess the piano is a bit gothy and transylvanian. i dont know, i have never listened to skinny puppy. i hope you are wrong!

minna (minna), Sunday, 24 August 2003 06:21 (twenty-two years ago)

"To see someone dance to Pastor Troy's minimal breakout '"No Mo Play" is truly magical. The shit bangs!"

minna (minna), Sunday, 24 August 2003 06:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Shondrae - classic for "Hit 'Em Up" as well, surely?

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 24 August 2003 06:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooops I meant "Stick 'Em Up"

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 24 August 2003 06:50 (twenty-two years ago)

i fucked your bitch you fat motherfucker!!!!

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 24 August 2003 07:04 (twenty-two years ago)

?

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 24 August 2003 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

"Hit 'em Up"

JS Williams (js williams), Sunday, 24 August 2003 09:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh right that one.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 25 August 2003 00:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Shondrae didn't do "Act A Fool", but he did do the awesome "R.P.M." by Shawna, Luda, and Twista off the DTP album. and I've been lurking on the hip hop board on futureproducers.com myself lately, and he seems fairly cool, very blunt and honest about a lot of the harsh realities of the industry and offers some serious advice about the business.

Al (sitcom), Friday, 29 August 2003 02:48 (twenty-two years ago)
