So it says at www.ukgarageworldwide.com:

"Dizzee Rascal has officially left the Roll Deep Crew. In an interview conducted last week he revelaed "They're all blessed and that, I'm just Dizzee Rascal though. Its not a bad thing, I’m just not with them." The full story and an exclusive interview by Chantelle Fiddy follows shortly in Blues & Soul Magazine."

Shame!

i am just glad i don't have to change my review in any way because of this.

if the roc can sign posh spice, surely they can sign dizzee?

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 01:48 (twenty-two years ago)

a six cd pack for twenty pounds!

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 01:48 (twenty-two years ago)

that's pretty standard in London shops, isn't it?

Dave M. (rotten03), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 02:30 (twenty-two years ago)

well, when i get there, i'll let you know.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 02:31 (twenty-two years ago)

that cd looks ace - post them reviews!!

Robin Goad (rgoad), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 07:28 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, 20 pounds for a tape pack/cd pack is actually quite cheap - all the ones i saw last week were going for around 24 at least.

cooper (cooper), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 15:04 (twenty-two years ago)

rise of the pickneys

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

(not a pun, or funny, but i just needed to get that out.)

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

This is a shame, and might be seen by some to justify all the 'oh and he's Completely different to other UK garage' nonsense you get in articles about Dizzee. This double CD looks fantastic though. Someone has to post a tracklisting for this and decide for me whather I buy it or not.

Myron Kosloff, Tuesday, 19 August 2003 22:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Obviously it'll be a huge blow to the crew but I have a feeling it won't be so good for Dizzee either. And I hate how it makes Nasty easily the best crew now. I loved not being able to decide which was better! On the bright side, maybe Roll Deep will try extra to improve.

Keith McD (Keith McD), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 01:50 (twenty-two years ago)

has roll deep really done much as a crew lately, though? or am i just missing it?

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 01:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Off topic, but I'd just like to note that UK Garage crew names are so less intimidating then US Rap crew names.

I mean, Murder Inc., Ruff Rydas, they all scare me a lot more.

David Allen, Wednesday, 20 August 2003 02:35 (twenty-two years ago)

what about the graveyard crew? or wolfpack?

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 02:38 (twenty-two years ago)

apart from the obvious (Roll Deep - Roll Deep Regular) I only know of one other recent tune whose name I can't remember...

Hey has anyone heard:

Target & Danny Weed Ft Wiley, Riko & Breeze - Pick Ya Self Up Remix

I bet it's great.

Yeah I agree Keith - surely this easily pushes Nasty Crew over the line. Also I don't see why this was necessary, it's not like Nelly or Ludacris or Eminem had to leave their crews once they blew up.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 03:38 (twenty-two years ago)

david are you scared of teddy roosevelt!!?!!?

trife (simon_tr), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 03:46 (twenty-two years ago)

ok either the version of the rascal/semtex thing that i'm downloading off the uk garage hub is a fake, or it's just the 1xtra set again :-( seems quite plausible, that was two hours of rascal/semtex after all...

toby (tsg20), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 06:56 (twenty-two years ago)

that pick yourself up remix is fucking incredible, gorgeous...
i dunno what the deal is with dizzee, doesn't seem to be any bad blood though, they were playing dizzee tracks on the roll deep show last night which is where i heard that rmx, i was going to rave about it on heronbone but seeing as you've already heard of it i'll rave about it here instead. j2k's on it, he's a newish member of roll deep but is now comfortably the best mc in the crew. you know that show gets put on the internet by dj sl eh? it's the best way to keep up to date...

luka vandross, Wednesday, 20 August 2003 07:05 (twenty-two years ago)

weeeeelll, a little known fact semtex keeps under his hat is that he's basically head of def jam uk

he's a very clever guy

also he once said "i find guru boring", this is HEART in my book!

havent pulled out the 2nd cd yet but yeah it's the 1xtra set

Chip Morningstar (bob), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 07:37 (twenty-two years ago)

as long as ruff squad dont reveal themselves to be Rwandan Uprising Freedom Force then i still like em most, as well documented

Chip Morningstar (bob), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 07:40 (twenty-two years ago)

how late in the show was the remix, luka? i recorded the last 40mins cos i went to bed early, i don't remember hearing it before then though.

toby (tsg20), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 07:49 (twenty-two years ago)

the thing about roll deep is it's hard to not see wiley also trying to forward his solo career to their detriment

Chip Morningstar (bob), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 07:54 (twenty-two years ago)

slaughter mob...?

weeeeelll, a little known fact semtex keeps under his hat is that he's basically head of def jam uk

he is also one of the worst djs in the world... this is not HEART in my book...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 08:12 (twenty-two years ago)

technique is boring. lame technique is endearing when taste is good

Chip Morningstar (bob), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 08:43 (twenty-two years ago)

toby, they played it about, er, i don't even know, soon after karnage stopped playing all that dodgy r&b.hiphop stuff (he never used to do that, dunno whats come over him)he played a couple of dizzee tracks, wileys fix up look sharp, a new wiley one and then that rmx. its better than the original.

luke...., Wednesday, 20 August 2003 09:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I've just gone out and bought that 6 CD Sidewinder thing- fine stuff so far (track 3 on CD 6 is EVIL) though there are two Roll Deep sets and the one with Dizzee on was recorded 7 months before everything else so make of that what you will.

Myron Kosloff, Wednesday, 20 August 2003 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

everyone MUST IMMEDIATELY DOWNLOAD donaeo's "famer yardie" if they haven't already.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

ooh that sound's exciting (jess we should arrange a cd swap mebbe?). i love the ludacris-ness of donae'o's voice on "Bounce", he should just do all his own rapping (probably unnecessary explanation: Donae'o is also Mr. Fidgit) rather than getting Dilemma MC in.

I really hope Wiley and Dizee's "Take Time" turns up on Wiley's album - I think it would fit well with the more mainstream sound he's apparently going for.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 21 August 2003 01:00 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, if nothing else i would just like a copy of "take time" that isn't so quiet as to be almost inaudible.

a cd swap sounds like a good idea, tim; email me.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 21 August 2003 01:30 (twenty-two years ago)

not an unnecessary explanation for me tim. im getting quite into some of that mr fidgit stuff, but if thats donae'o, things start to make a lot of sense.

ambrose (ambrose), Thursday, 21 August 2003 08:12 (twenty-two years ago)

"that pick yourself up remix is fucking incredible, gorgeous..."

OMG it is it really is!!! A new standard!

NB. you can hear it on Femme Fatale's set at 1xtra.
