Radiohead and copy protection

My flatmate just bought the new Radiohead album and pointed out the interesting juxtaposition of the Copy Protected sticker over all the anti-stuff-that-copy-protection-stands-for artwork.

Now, I know Godspeed You Black Emperor have some words to say about this, but I've been inclined to not listen - they seem somewhat rabid.

But it does make me think - why didn't they sign to some independent label, instead of Warner who are quite distinctly one of the Big Evil Six?
