(more seriously: I always thought "Hit Self-Destruct" was a perfect little EP, & loved their version of "Lying In State"--actually the Verlaines' original would go nicely in the "Cadmium" genre)

I think Douglas kinda hit on it: the genre already exists - it's called "kiwi-rock." See anything from the Cakekitchen or the 3Ds for more examples.

I can't think of any examples off-hand but I'm glad to see the mighty Superchunk finally getting some love on ILM.
