okay, i'm gonna type this list now, while killing time to go DJ.

here it is:

amorphis best-of
animal collective (*spirit they're gone spirit they're vanished/dance
manatee* reissue. the new album is pretty tedious, i decided)
antimatter
chargers street gang
chemical brothers best-of (volume one only)
dead low tide
dub pistols
gathering
guitar wolf
hanzel und gretyl
hidden hand
husbands
laibach
les georges leningrad
lifesavas
lucia EP (still didn't listen to the album, which might not come out)
lullacry
lyrics born
mcenroe
noir desir (late 2001 in france, but the singer wasn't facing prison
time for beating his girlfriend to death in a hotel room til last
month. oddly, this is quite possibly the best album on this list.)
pimp daddy nash
pinataland (tilde over the n, but whatever)
polysics
preacher's kids
the quick reissue
schneider tm EP
sic kidz maxi-EP
sounds
spiders (i listed the EP before but this is the album)
ssion
sparks
stars as eyes
themselves
ulver EP (hi scott!!)
virgin black
vulgar boatmen best-if
youngbloodz
*bejing band 2001* comp
*rasta jamz* comp
*s.h.a.d.o. electro* comp
*songs of the pogo* reissue
*thirteen* soundtrack

outside of noir desir, my favorite albums on the list above are probably the spiders and lyrics born, but don't quote me on that. a month from now, i might say the husbands or pimp daddy nash instead.

similarly, i decided recently that hitman sammy sam's and party of one's albums are much better than i thought when i first listed them.

here's the obligatory link to my previous dumb long boring lists:
yet MORE albums I don't hate from this year

Since you mentioned Lyrics Born, have you copped Diverse's One AM yet? LB has a hellafied guest spot on the upcoming first single ("Explosive") that uses the beat from Quincy Jones' "Moneyrunner" slowed down and chopped up and bombed out (by RJD2!!). He does this super-deadpan semi-monotone corporate-press-conference cadence that is exactly in time with the electric piano riff. It is BONKERS.

*the same song the Chemical Brothers used for "Get Up On It Like This" (which sampled the John Pearson pseudo-library-music version and used less of it)

GREENDALE GREENDALE GREENDALE GREENDALE GREENDALE!

Bryan Moore (Bryan Moore), Thursday, 21 August 2003 03:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Neat, glad you like the mcenroe album (I assume it's Disenfranchaised? That's one of my favourites of the year, so far, but not sure how much of that is because I know the guy from way back home etc.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 21 August 2003 04:03 (twenty-two years ago)

god, that gathering album sure is wonderful. and a duet with Garm from Ulver!! it's like they did that just for me or something. and Virgin Black!!! chuck, is that the shit, or what? down under goth opera just the way i like it. big and booming. i love that thing.that might even make my top ten. if i were to pick today it might be: Katatonia, Won Wons, Groovski, Virgin Black...hmmm, i don't know. i think i like that Dragons album better than the Spiders album, but i might like the Spiders album better than the Deadly Snakes album. i can't tell yet.
