It looks like David Bowie's got a new record coming out next month - 'Reality'. Has anyone heard any of it?

Or has anyone heard anything about it?

hi james, that's another question! yes, i've heard about it, not any of it. there's a small recent thread on the single (haven't heard it), from which i remember it sounded like Bowie jumping the britpopbandwagon a decade late... still, i'm looking forward to the album AND the october 15 show in Rotterdam!

If Bowie were to jump on the Britpop bandwagon, it would most likely enjoy a resurgence. Or does he not have that power/influence on the industry anymore?

Surely he was old school britpop i.e. he was a mod. His mid-sixties singles and 'Pin-ups' count as britpop of sorts don't they?

Where's the thread about the single, willem? I had a look for it but couldn't find it.

it's here James.

Cheers willem. Don't know why it didn't come up when I put "Bowie" in a thread title search, but never mind.

and they sound great.

They do sound good; thanks for the link. No matter what, the reaction will be the same: a few good reviews, "Bowie's back", and then six months later everyone will have forgotten it or say it sucks. If you don't care for his last several albums, why even bother? He's never gonna fulfill anyone's nostagia trip. I am still of the opinion that Heathen was a fine record.

Heathen was a very excellent record. A friend saw him play in upstate Ny just the other night -- says he and his band rawked.

Heathen = spiff. New album = hopefully just as spiffy.

The cover looks really neat. It has a slightly animed and computerized drawing of bowie on it.
