pitchfork has a street team?

keith (keithmcl), Friday, 22 August 2003 02:27 (twenty-two years ago)

sc: have you heard the album?

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 22 August 2003 02:29 (twenty-two years ago)

my impression failed

keith (keithmcl), Friday, 22 August 2003 02:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Just watched the video. Could it be that this song "Mighty Little Man" that convinced this Pitchfork reviewer he had musical abilities is coincidentally the only song on the album that completely sucks ass?!? Doubtful. That song is fucking horrendous in really every way I can think of. It's boring, the lyrics are also boring and/or tacky, the music sucks, the singing is really terrible and the part which is obviously supposed to be catchy is so bad it should be in detention.

Hands of Blues Clues guy!! My 3 yr old loves him.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Friday, 22 August 2003 02:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm listening to the rest of the tracks now. The rest is certainly better than that first song, but I'm not liking this. I never have seen Blues Clues for more than 1 minute and I am a fan of Flaming Lips, so I'd really like to like this. His singing is really killing me.

scaredy Cat, Friday, 22 August 2003 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

is it like neil young on helium?

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 22 August 2003 02:44 (twenty-two years ago)

No, Neil Young on helium would be very, very high-pitched. This guy is reminding me of Roxette or something. Roxette had a male singer, too, right? If not Roxette, then some someone else with a very average voice and vocal range singing very averagely.

Scaredy Cat, Friday, 22 August 2003 02:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Roxette with a male singer? That would be Bruce Springsteen then?

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Friday, 22 August 2003 02:55 (twenty-two years ago)

It's very hard to tolerate these songs all the way through. I've listened to each song now for at least a minute and I give this piece of crap a 4.0, mostly for it's production and the occasional well-done odd instrument.

Is it weird that the last song sings about Superman given that the Flaming Lips covered this topic to death on The Soft Bulletin?

Scaredy cat (Natola), Friday, 22 August 2003 02:59 (twenty-two years ago)

dude you should totally write for pitchfork

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 22 August 2003 03:03 (twenty-two years ago)

only if I'm the highest-paid staffer.

Scaredy cat (Natola), Friday, 22 August 2003 03:23 (twenty-two years ago)

The whole $11?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 22 August 2003 04:44 (twenty-two years ago)

"You're great! And by the way, I have no taste" is now going to be my official favourite saying.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Friday, 22 August 2003 04:56 (twenty-two years ago)

> The whole $11?
Someone made $11 writing for the Fork last year?! Bring me the head of Schreiber!

Vek (vek), Friday, 22 August 2003 04:58 (twenty-two years ago)

So THIS is what he left Blue's Clues to do? Erm, I'm sorry, but my Pookie is not gonna be happy 'bout this.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 22 August 2003 05:01 (twenty-two years ago)

He should have Blue in the videos. I'd love it more.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 22 August 2003 13:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Is anyone else party to the knowledge that the Flaming Lips have a song with Tom Jones on the soundtrack to Duck Dodgers In The 24 1/2 Century? Actually *about* Duck Dodgers?

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Friday, 22 August 2003 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

So is that Duck Dodgers thing a TV movie or a show or what?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 22 August 2003 14:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Movie as I understand it. It seems a bit, um, marginal to me as well...

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Friday, 22 August 2003 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

DUCK DODGERS, yeah! I thought it was a new series on Saturdays at 11 am! In any case, I will be glued to my tv tomorrow morning. I love Duck Dodgers. I think it really is a series. That's the feeling I got when I went to the cartoonnetwork.com site.

Scaredy Cat, Friday, 22 August 2003 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually this isn't too bad as long as you aren't watching; he's still the twee-est dude ever in the history of time.
