I kazaad a few tunes, sounds like Ween got their hands on all the Korg stuff I got (MS2000, Elctribe series stuff), sounds AWESOME, gonna buy the album 3X.

Also, it has some "Midnite Vultures" sounds, which I dig.
Prbably because of all the Korg Synths. I guess.

This CD (I'm listening to it right now) sounds so thick and lush! And it's weird how Aaron's voice sounds so much stronger on this record than ever before. The songs all sound so different from each other too! Dude this is such a good album. "If YOu Could Save Yourself (You'd Save Us All)", which is playing now...shit it's so grand and triumphant sounding and dude's singing totally raw. This whole CD makes me bust a Keanu: "woah".

The guitar tone during the solo in "I Don't Want It" sounds like Sigur Ros! WTF? (note: this is not a bad thing)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 22 August 2003 12:04 (twenty-two years ago)

It's the diversity and sincerity that really get me about this album; even the sillier moments (like "Hey There Fancypants") have this strange honesty to them that has only showed it's face sparingly in the history of Ween.

If their recent albums are any indication, this will probably have a few gems of sheer brilliance surrounded by lots of self-indulgent twaddle, but I'll probably end up getting it anyway.

"Transdermal Celebration" sounds like flying around in one of those Jetson's cars (only all blunt-smokey inside) and piloting through an asteroid field at maximum warp speed in hot pursuit of intergalactic pirates on a mission to rescue your lady-love from their evil clutches.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 22 August 2003 16:47 (twenty-two years ago)

its ok but it lacks energy. i dont just mean "Transdermal Celebration" i mean the whole album. i just dont hear the magic. plus i have a feeling Zoloft is scientology inspired.

chaki (chaki), Friday, 22 August 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

"Zoloft", whatever the inspiration, is a pretty creepy song. It sounds like losing the will to live.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 22 August 2003 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I totally visualize Bugs Bunny doing that cane-and-top-hat dance during "Hey There Fancypants". Except when the guitar shit gets going (DAMN!!!!!) there's a little fly fluttering about his head buggin' the shit out of him and he's swinging at it with his cane, but still dancing FEROCIOUSLY.

Okay, I'm'a hijacking this and making it The Thread Where Nickalicious Rambles On About How-&-Why He Loves The New Ween Album So Much It Hurts Him In His Heart

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 22 August 2003 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

but im going to fight you on this. the first song sounds like a moistboyz outtake. they have about 342365 songs in the same style they've never released. the last song sounds like coldplay.

Explain the Scientology suspicians, Chaki -- are they known to dabble in that shit? As a guy who is working his way along the bridge to clear, eliminating engrams and freeing body thetans (no thanks to the squirrels who have been perverting my tech), I can't help but be curious about my fellow warriors of Xenu.

Ben Boyer (Ben Boyer), Friday, 22 August 2003 19:55 (twenty-two years ago)

"they have about 342365 songs in the same style they've never released" that are BETTER. (is what i meant to say)

I think the last song Gener/Aaron's voice sounds kinda like Angel Dust era Mike Patton, but the song hella reminds me of Wall era Pink Floyd.

The first song is kinda similar to the first song from Chocolate and Cheese and also reminds me a bit of a less-ridiculous "Dr. Rock", but it's a very catchy tune and more than anything else to me it stands out just cuz of how MASSIVE it sounds, they've recorded lotsa other songs in that style, but that one just SOUNDS SO RAW, and it's a good way to kick off the album.

I really like "Among His Tribe" a lot right now (especially driving late at night alone & high last night), it's a simple gorgeous/spooky ballad except for all that weird ambient weight to it. I like that there's things like that on this album they've never really done before (which kinda makes up for the familiar territory of "It's Gonna Be a Long Night" and "Hey There Fancypants").

Nothing to do with Ween, Chaki, but you were missed last night at the Maiden show -- or were you able to go? Get to the Long Beach show tonight if you can.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 25 August 2003 19:37 (twenty-two years ago)

"SCCCCCRRREEEEAMMMM FOR ME LONGBEACH" ....

chaki (chaki), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 06:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I heard two different songs from this album out in random places today; I heard "Tried & True" at Best Buy about noon-time while I was buying a new stove and "It's Gonna Be A Long Night" on the DMX at C0mm0n Gr0unds (coffee house). Plus I think I realized what's going on with "F**ked Jam", and I'm kinda still laughing. Hyfuckingsterically!@
