I've *got* to buy this - the little bit at the end of the war pigs mp3 (from the site) is so beautiful it almost made me cry (I am not making this up).

I've heard it, it's awesome. I don't even know all the Sabbath tunes but the sound is v. nice. Like Gregorian chant but more lush, & then the melodies.

Heh, I believe t//t was telling me about this the other day...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 25 August 2003 22:37 (twenty-two years ago)

please tell me one of these is "N.I.B."

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Monday, 25 August 2003 22:51 (twenty-two years ago)

So sorry, Curt1s. These are the English titles (finally I get to use my catholic school Latin!):

War Pigs
Eyes of the Junior (Junior's Eyes)
A National Acrobat
Symptom (?) Of The Universe
Behind The Wall Of Sleep
After Forever
The Magician (The Wizard, I assume)
Solitude
Wheels Of Confusion
Planet Caravan
Hard Road
Spiral Architect

I may have translated some of these incorrectly, but no "N.I.B.", I'm afraid. I haven't heard the Sabbath covers record, but I saw these guys in Estonia performing medieval material and they are GREAT -- such beautiful textures and voices! I may have to pick this one up.

The concept behind this is reminiscent of another record that I heard by a group called Apocalyptica -- they do Metallica pieces as a string quartet. I think that the group is Finnish. -- must be something in the water up there.

Whoah!? - when and where, Nom De?
I've also seen'n'heard them perform their, um, more regular repertoire, as a three piece. Was good, too.

Sabbatum is the poo! I played this for my dad around Xmas time and about ten minutes in he reckognizes a riff and starts air-guitaring like Beavis outta control.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 13:09 (twenty-two years ago)

t\'\'t -- saw them in Tallinn a few years ago when I was visiting. It was in a church in the old town and they made me feel like I'd travelled back in time a few centuries.

It was a good summer for music-- I also saw a concert in the same church of Veljo Tormas choral music -- anyone into old-world-sounding eerie music should check out his "Curse on Wrought Iron" piece if you can find a recording of it.
