Johnny Cash's cover of NIN's "Hurt"

I just stumbled across this today. It's Johnny Cash looking older and more frail than I ever imagined possible, singing "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails. It's sad, beautiful and more moving than the original ever was. Watch the video here

Has anyone else seen this?

i think most people have seen it.
but it's brilliant nonetheless.

and it's nominated for how many vma's?

I figured that most people would have already seen it, although I heard it's not in heavy rotation on a lot of channels. I don't have cable and almost never watch TV which is why I'm kinda out of the loop. I think I read that it's up for six awards. Only Missy Elliot and Justin Timberlake got more nominations.

Yeah. That one'll get to ya. I think it'll be the same way when Warren Zevon does "Knockin On Heaven's Door"

Yep, one of the saddest videos I've ever seen. Really fucking moving. June Cash dying just adds to its impact, now. He looks so lost and alone but dignified. Contemplative. Sorry, it's hard to talk about it without accidentally composing a Hallmark card.

agreed,a really incredible song and video
david otm with regard to hallmark

Damn, my first OTM on ILM, and it's in relation to Hallmark :-(

Haven't seen the video, but the song is majestic. As with 'One' and 'Desperado' he takes a truly wretched song and molds it into something truly soul-stirring. OTM: 'Dignified'

strained, exploitative, yecch. "One" and even "Desperado" are much better songs than "Hurt"

I don't like it. Didn't like the Soundgarden one either.

don't like it neither. just blah.

I like the song a lot, and am glad they changed "crown of shit" to "crown of thorns" because otherwise it would have made the song goofy. I'm really undecided on the video, on the one hand I think it suceeds in what it sets out to do, but I'm also not sure that what it's trying to do is be mawkish and over the top. It's almost cheap sentimentality but I'm overly sensitive to sentiment.

One Hour Photo a hit movie? What universe was I in when that happened?
