I just picked up the latest CD of Rammstein called Mutter. I give it 5 stars out of a 5 star ranking. You know why. This CD is ariculate, amazing, and most of all, it rocks! This is music out of the ordinary you go to check it out asap. The way I found out about it was going to www.rammstein.com and checking out their site. Wicked might I add!

It may be ariculate, but if you're not a member of 'Rammstein' I'll eat my hat.

I doubt they could log on, do a google search and find this place. Nick, time to take your hat and eat it. ;-)

can i be the first to point out that he misspelled 'articulate'? i believe some sort of irony bomb has been dropped.

For the benefit of those who don't shill for AOL...

USER NAME: Extremeparanoya

Location: Los Angeles, CA Sex: Male Marital Status: don't you want to know Hobbies: playing in my band, moshing Computers: this one Occupation: bouncer at underground club Personal Quote: If you are not ready to bleed, get out of the pit If you are not ready to bleed, get out of the pit

I don't think irony is on the menu here. Or, if it is, it's disturbingly well cultivated. So, either way, I salute you brave soul, throwing your teutonic techno-metal loving self to us wolves. (Wolf cubs, maybe?)

I have not heard the new Rammstein and doubt I will. It's cool that someone out there's going mad for it, though; Rammstein are a group I like in theory, but not in practice.

Dan Perry, Monday, 13 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I don't think Mutter's the new one is it? I thought it was the one that caused the biggest anti-Nazi furore so far? Everyone stop being so cliquey and maybe accept that the guy loves music? Just because you don't like the same stuff doesn't mean you should be banned from this board (except, of course, Pinefox, who probably should). 5 out of 5 embarrassment points to whoever hadn't heard of Rammstein and assumed they were a small band.

Greg, Monday, 13 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think cynicism is due: there are 'operatives' out... 'fans', if you will, who scour the chat rooms and message boards, and drop spontaneous hints about the awesome new CD they just stumbled upon. Beware of wolves, though... at the most innocent, they're actual teens (often street team members) who genuinely like the band, and are paid with free tickets, merchandise, etc. But often it's much more sinister. The website for the LA band Tsar is a portrait of artifice... all the news and text is written by a devoted 'fan' who just wants you to know that "the boys say hi and they love you all..." She is, of course, a 33 year promo guy, probably named Craig or Gary... but whatever, that's the business I guess.

Yeah, but do you know how fucking HARD it is to get (free)publicity?
Although I suppose there's a time and a place for it, so I'm definitely not going to mention http://www.peoplesound.com/artist/brazenhussies here.

I did a search for Mr Paranoya on google. As well as liking RAMMSTEIN he also likes Queens of the Stone Age - so much so that he posted identical raves about one of their records to several boards.

That's real fandom.

The Dirty Vicar, Tuesday, 14 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm not changing my mind because of that - if it was a real fan, the way some people are willing to jump on newcomers to this board is shocking.

Greg, Tuesday, 14 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Nothing really wrong with Queens of the Stone Age

Scott, Tuesday, 14 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Good nasty prank. I am forced to suffer Rammstein in clubs, and their "Model" just kills me. Another shot of Jack for my pain.

Simon, Wednesday, 15 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Mr Rammstein fan check this out.

Billy Dods, Wednesday, 15 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am sorry if it appeared like I was jumping on newcomers. I had never heard of Rammstein and I just assumed from the tone of the post that there was some vested interest involved. I mean I'm not used to people talking like that. Also, it didn't appear to be a question by any definition I am familiar with.

I am, however, prepared to eat my hat. Except I don't have one. If anyone wants to send me one in the post, please drop me a line.

Nick, Wednesday, 15 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I also realise in retrospect that I have heard of Rammstein. But Greg, I wish people would stop taking the title of this board so literally. It should be perfectly obvious that rabid Rammstein fans without any sense of irony are unlikely to find much of interest here. In fact rabid fans of any persuasion without any sense of irony are unlikely to find much of interest here. Sorry - I know irony is unfashionable and all, but..

N.B. The above does not mean 'liking bands ironically', cause as we all know, that has been proven by science to be rubbish.

Nick, Wednesday, 15 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Right, let's get this straight: if someone doesn't like the same bands as you (whatever - the ILM "hardcore" if you want) then they shouldn't even bother coming here?

Greg, Wednesday, 15 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

No, that's clearly not what I meant. Oh look, never mind. If you think that's what the above post meant then I doubt I'll ever be able to explain what I mean to you. By my usual standards, I thought it was reasonably well expressed. .

If the ethos of ILM (by ethos I do *not* mean the kind of music posters like) changes to one in which extremeparanoya's post becomes the norm and people get annoyed with people for making fun, then I probably won't stick around anymore. There are too many other places on the internet that offer the same kind of discourse. I always thought of ILM as a bit different. Things evolve, spirits die, people lament the fact. That's life, and I accept it.

Nick, Wednesday, 15 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Don't bother trying to explain. I am a thick northerner and wouldn't understand you anyway.
