Anyone heard these guys? Pretty much single-handedly carrying the "real metal" torch, and one of the best metal drummers i've ever heard.

But they don't lie down on Broadway, do they?

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Thursday, 28 August 2003 23:44 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
Anyone going to the show in NYC tonight?

Je4nne ƒury (Jeanne Fury), Monday, 30 August 2004 14:07 (twenty-one years ago)

My home town heroes.

Mark (MarkR), Monday, 30 August 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Are they as Christian Metal as the name sounds?

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 30 August 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

uh...they used to be called Burn The Priest, so that'd be a 'no'

roger adultery (roger adultery), Monday, 30 August 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Their new record is pretty much the rocking.

adam (adam), Monday, 30 August 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

roger adultery (roger adultery), Monday, 30 August 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe this will be the metal album I buy this year (well, I did get Pelican, but that doesn't count because it's BORING).

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 30 August 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

today is the day's new one destroys too, and i like the new otep as well

why only one?

roger adultery (roger adultery), Monday, 30 August 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

After having my heart broken by the shitty Mastodon and DEP records this Lamb of God is my savior. I don't know if it's metal or just indie rock shit but the new Isis is pretty awesome too.

New Today Is the Day -----> off to 5l5k.

adam (adam), Monday, 30 August 2004 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I just don't hear many metal bands that blow me away. The local college radio station does seemingly have a ton of metal shows, but unfortunately when I do hear something I like I almost never catch the name of the band.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 30 August 2004 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

RICHMOND, VA REPRAZENT.

n.a. (Nick A.), Monday, 30 August 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

(even though I don't live there anymore)

n.a. (Nick A.), Monday, 30 August 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha, I just heard a set on said radio station consisting of Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, Demons & Wizards, Iron Maiden, Sonata Arctica, Hammerfall, and Amorphis. Half the songs were Maiden and Helloween covers. I am in ninth grade again, therefore I have no choice but to buy metal cds tonight.

three months pass...
I just checked out a few tracks on their website. Black Label is the sickest thing I've heard in a long time. Is that album (New American Gospel) the one to get?

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 24 December 2004 05:13 (twenty years ago)

I prefer Corndogs of Gabriel whose snare drum is wound even tighter.

Metal Braces, Friday, 24 December 2004 06:02 (twenty years ago)

Really? How do you wind a snare drum?

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 24 December 2004 06:22 (twenty years ago)

With the turnkey on the side. It makes the pitch higher or lower.

Metal Braces, Friday, 24 December 2004 06:23 (twenty years ago)

Nevermind. I just never heard anyone call it "winding" before.

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 24 December 2004 06:28 (twenty years ago)

what is it usually called?

Metal Braces, Friday, 24 December 2004 06:29 (twenty years ago)

I guess "tuning."

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 24 December 2004 06:36 (twenty years ago)

New Awerican Gospel is the one to get...the new one is awesome too.

ddb (ddb), Friday, 24 December 2004 14:35 (twenty years ago)

hah that's a blast from the past! LoG don't seem to be ILX favourites do they

Neil S, Thursday, 25 June 2020 14:10 (five years ago)

Lamb of God are a modern-day Pantera (without the racism) - they have the highest record-sales-to-extremeness ratio of anyone outside of Slipknot and both of those bands have complicated relationships with underground metal fans.

I listened to the new one a few times and a few tracks on what would likely be the second side of the album were thrashy enough but most of the rest was way too groove metal for my tastes and the Jamey Jasta track just seemed like the worst of both worlds there.

I'd see them live, especially if they took out a smaller band I liked, but they seem to be touring in huge sheds on package tours where they're the only band I am interested in and I don't have the time or money for that.

The Burn The Priest covers record last year was fun though!

I have no problem with LOG but it makes no real sense to approach them as a metal band or hold them against supposed metal standards, they're a great hardcore band and that's all they need to be.
