It's almost tempting to find one of their early albums. Almost.

But for that one shining album (with good production from Bill Laswell!), very classic.

that is so OTM!!
I like the music a lot. "More Human Than Human" is the best rock single of the 90's!! I've never heard their earlier stuff, I think I probably should though.
And House of 1000 Corpses was great, even if I'm the only person who knows it. It was really entertaining, to say the least.
― Sonny A. (Keiko), Friday, 29 August 2003 04:03 (twenty-two years ago)
and House of 1,000 Corpses went on too long.

Aside from a couple singles, I'm inclined to go with dud, although I recall liking the animated sequence he did in Beavis & Butthead Do America.

wow, I'm surprised he's letting the early recs out of the crypt. never released on cd, and also not listed on any official discog, I thought zombie had completely written them off.
soulcrusher is an awesomely scuzzy record. too bad they're not being released separately. or are they?

the albums that came under the 'rob zombie' name (it's all white zombie anyhow, right?) are poor, but the likes of astro creep 2000 have held up pretty well. some great, fun tunes on that one, although perhaps a little thin in places to stand up as a particularly good record.
― Charlie Howard, Friday, 17 October 2008 01:45 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah I'd be pretty interested to hear the 80s stuff
― The Slash My Father Wrote (DJ Mencap), Friday, 17 October 2008 09:15 (seventeen years ago)
"ratmouth" is one of my favorite songs ever.
a buddy of mine is a big fan of 80s scumrock and for him white zombie = bad funk-metal. rob zombie suppressing the recs has a lot to do with it I guess, as well as the indie scene writing them off after they went metal, but it's weird to me when people don't know white zombie used to play shows with live skull and pussy galore.

Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor
Opening song title: “Teenage Nosferatu Pussy”
Hi there!

I'm pretty disappointed with the new album. The one before this, Hellbilly Deluxe 2, was a lot weirder and more interesting - it felt like he was actually awake and engaged while making it. There are several songs on the new one that feel really phoned-in, to the point that I can actually sing the choruses of older RZ songs over them.
― 誤訳侮辱, Wednesday, 1 May 2013 19:44 (twelve years ago)
Huh, I actually like the new one a little more than HB2. It seems like he's having a little more fun this time and I like how he's inching back to the R-rated Zombie persona than the cartoonish PG-13 horror thing. Some of the tunes are pretty silly, but I liked this one for the most part. NB I have really low expectations for new Rob Zombie stuff anyway.
I've also been relistening to those early White Zombie EPs that were finally unleashed back into the world thanks to that box set from a few years ago, amazing stuff.

White Zombie - CoolRob Zombie Solo - Dud
Rob's solo stuff is repetitive mook rock trappings which White Zombie admittedly had, but with none of other stuff that made White Zombie unique and interesting.
Incidentally, I suggest people check out Sean Ysault's book. Good coffee table reading with lots of cool pix.

Never knew White Zombie had an earlier punk/noise start! So I listened to youtubes of the early singles and by God of Thunder it seems the White Zombie sound was in place? Pig Heaven rocks! I would be interested to hear the rest of Psycho-Head Blowout. Never liked any of what I've heard on the radio though.
― JacobSanders, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 00:21 (ten years ago)
I have the 4CD/1DVD set described upthread, but this Numero box has been completely remastered (whereas the set I have pulled the old tracks from vinyl) and includes unreleased tracks plus a book full of old photos etc., so I'm in.
