Saw some great reviews for this album and I was wondering if anybody had heard the full album yet?
The track i heard is the 2nd on the album and it goes into this bizarre english medieval folk song. Its great though. Isnt naff like it sounds it should be.

i got it via soulseek a while ago and was less than impressed overall. it sounds a tad contrived and doesn't seem to flow very well. the downloadable track from their website is definitely the best thing on it.

I wasn't so interested in hearing/buying even though I like their previous stuff, until I read the piece in The Wire about it. I've been getting into the Incredible String Band in a big way in the past couple years, so now of course I wanna hear how Matmos has incorporated that influence into their music.

just heard this is and it is really great. not at all what i expected. less obtuse than some of the earlier stuff (definitely some of "the west" in it) but equally interesting and detailed. a bit in the vein of the books record, but more formal. (or maybe it was seeing them all dressed up in the wire that makes me envision the music as formal).

other recent thoughts?

three years pass...

I just got this and am really enjoying it. Some of it kind of reminds me of The Books but more successful and without the pointless speech clips.

I almost listed them in that thread about bands you try to like but can't. But then I saw this and remembered that Civil War totally changed my mind about them.
